Open land to shoot long range?

Does anyone have any suggestion for BLM or desert type areas to shoot steel?
I'm not looking to use this place frequently as I normally go to Pala range. Just looking for a place to easily run ladder test and such.

    Thanks in advance!

    Sheep Hole pass.
Eastern edge of 29 Palms Marine base.
Road to Savoy, shoot on the western side of the road.

Wide open, nothing for miles and no one to bother you.
It is a legal area with no restrictions.

I just shot to around 500 yards 2 week-ends ago at the CGN zombie meet, you can shoot up to 750 yards there. Also there is a spot you can shoot up to 1200 yards at hodge road, its the second set of hills a couple miles back into the desert, just set up your steel on the hill as a backdrop and move back to your desired distance. There is another small hump about 1200 yards from the mountain if you can find it.

BTW, I have had troubles at Hodge road.
Be careful, some real wanks shoot there and they just point the barrel where ever....you know the story.

Any suggestions for places closer to the bay area? Panoche/Tumey don't allow steel.

BRRC has steel to 1k and target carriers at 200, 400 and 600 yards.

BRRC is not "open land". It is a private club open only to members and those shooting in organized events.

I have my own shooting area.
Took this pic a month ago or so before the cold really reared it's head.
This is my road, not a county road or whatever, so I have my own street name that I blocked from ya's you just don't need that info for any reason I can think of.

My house is down there on the right and my shop is behind it.
The shop measures 240' long, 56' wide, and 24' tall.
That should give you a idea of the area size here.

I can sit on my front porch with a beer and rifle and shoot right at 460 yards straight across the field.
I can shoot to the right up to about 1200 yards.
And to the left where this view is from I can get just a tad over 2300 yards.

I think you guys might understand how I can actually feel free.
No one person to bother me unless I invite them to.

I saw a more sturdy "this is not allowed" message somewhere on the BLM site earlier in the week, but on this page it says "please only shoot paper targets": http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/palms...formation.html

That is pretty much my dream right there. Love it.
