I purchased a 700 used and the guy included a base. is there a way to check if it has a 20 moa cant? if it doesnt Im gonna probably pick up rings or a base that has the 20 moa cant. any recommendations are appreciated. any other recommendations and suggestions are also welcome. nothing worse than being unprepared. thanks

Is it significantly thicker (.0625"+-) on one end? -
Look at it. Does it look canted? You can see the cant on a 20 MOA base.Comment

Badger, seekings, nightforce all make excellent quality rings and bases. Also based on past experience pick your scope and commit to it before you buy rings.Comment

How about you post some pictures or if you have calipers get some measurements...
Also take into consideration how much internal adjustment you have in the optic… Even if you don’t have a 20 MOA base, you might have more than enough elevation to get you were you need to go.
Have you compared it to some generic ballistic data from a similar load/rifle you plan to use?ExtremeXComment

I'll be line coaching the clinic - so that you will have a fruitful experience, please be sure to zero that new scope at 100 yards and zero the turrets.
I can't tell you how many people show with out a good zero and no idea how to adjust the zero on the turrets.
If you need any help, please PM me.
The base looks canted to me as well. Once you get your 100 yard zero and zero your turrets, dial you dope out to 1000. If your elevation turrets still have room for more adjustments, you are GTG. If you top out before then, your base is inadqueate.Last edited by dskit; 03-11-2014, 10:12 AM._____________________________________________
