Good job for being there for her and taking care of her. Guns come and go, but a good wife is here to stay.sigpicComment

Hey your wife gets to make a full healthy recovery and you can get your completed rifle back in 1 to 2 years (about the time it'll take for a gunsmith to build it anyway).
I'd say you're doing just fine. Be sure to update us the moment you get it back!Comment

i have herniated discs. the thing that helped me is, and its pricey, is my chiropractor and their decompression machine. you may want to look into that. its the only thing that releives the pain for me. best of luck to your wife.UPDATE 1.2.14
My wife, whom has allowed me to partake in this hobby of ours of precision shooting, tactical shooting and in essence "prepping," just had a herniated disk over new years
With that said, I had to sell the components for this build to help pay for whatever medical bills she is going to incur as a result of this. I already found a buyer (friend) who is going to buy the components from me. In fact, he is a friend whom I had known for over 10 years and also told me when I have the funds (1-2 years???), he would sell it back to me at whatever the component cost was plus the build fees that he would be paying for.
As much as it pains me, it would pain me more to have her live in pain.Comment

funny thing is we had a doctor's appointment and that was one option if the prednisone (sp?) doesnt alleviate the swelling.
as an update, she's walking, but very gingerly and is on a couple pain killers. a few days ago she couldnt sleep horizontally and was sleeping on a chair or sleeping in a modified fetal position with her knees under her body and her back arched in such a way that it didnt agitate her disk.
the other option is surgery

i unfortunately have some experience with disk damage.
if the prednisone doesn't do it my surgeon decided to do steroid injections directly into the disk's. the first attempt didn't do it but about a month latter they attempted it again and a few weeks latter I was standing and walking upright again. the next option was surgery.
every year or so I get a flair up and prednisone usually does it.
best of luck to your wife, and you might ask about the injections to reduce the disk swelling. it worked for me

Wife is doing much better. Still waiting to see if any additional medial procedures or actions will need to be taken.
If evreything gets better, maybe i could get my components back.
On another note, my friend has not done anything to the components, but said he would wait another month to see how things goes. He is as good of a friend as you can ask for.Comment
