Now that the bickering is gone let's keep it civil.

I would get a semi auto if you can.

I've never hunted anything before but have seen videos of those things taking a bullet and going for another 10 min, and at the same time I've seen them mess people up. Those 2 together is a bad combo. Again if legal I'd look into a big caliber semi for that just in case. I wouldn't not want to have to manual cycle with one of them pissed off with you in their sights.

When S&W first put out the .357 they hired a pro hunter to kill every type of game animal with the standard 6" revolver. At the S&W Headquarters they have a mounted Kodiak Bear that was killed at 17yds with a single .357 round.

I personally use a 450 Bushmaster but ammo is not easy to come by. But I would use anything 308 or larger other wise they will run off and die and it will be very hard to find blood to track unless you punch a good hole in them.

Yep! Something like a Remington Model 8 in 35 Remington would be perfect!

If I'm shooting any wild animals that weigh 800 Lbs it's going to be with my 375 H&H or my 458 Win Mag.

Yea, me too. Who needs something that big to drop a pig. Everyone knows that a .17 cal air rifle is all you need to drop a 250lb pig in it's tracks.

I use a Savage Hog Hunter in 308, a lot of rifle for the money.
Just cooked up some tasty backstrap on the 21st from a recent hunt up north.

And I didn't want to spend the money on a 338. That is why I started this thread!

The State record for hogs is around 625 Lbs but there was one submitted at 733 Lbs last year but it hasn't been confirmed yet.

Your brother shot one last month bigger than the CA state record?
