On a basic budget looking at under 500 for glass. this is just a range toy so nothing to extreme. Just something that will let me go out to 500-600 yards is good.

Like vortex optics as I have one mounted to one of my Ar's and have been impressed. But whatever the hive recommends will be taken into consideration.

Bushnell 6500 is great. I've had many Bushnells and they work well.

1. Good glass, 4-16 is a sweet spot for the .308. Look at SWFA, Bushnell, Vortex, $700 ish will get you all the scope you will need. MAKE SURE YOUR RETICLE AND TURRETS MATCH. Remember, a quality scope could last you a lifetime.

2. A good supply of match quality ammo, save all your brass in case you reload in the future.

3. A good 20 MOA steel base and rings. Any top quality brand will do.

4. Read, study and research precision shooting to maximize your fun.

5. Develop your system how to clean, maintain and care for your precision rifle.

6. If your near Morgan Hill, let me know and I will mount your scope for a six pack of beer.

7. My opinion, hold off on the chassis for now... better to bed the stock you have

+1 on the swfa sample list. I was able to get their 5-20x50mm (demo A) for $200 less. It looks and feels brand new to me. I put the rifle in a B&C a2, however I sanded the forearms wings.
