I would buy the VTR just because of the triangular barrel, there are mix reviews. Im just a avid shooter nothing special, plus it looks cool. 0.2

I have the 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD .308 in the Ghillie Green Hogue stock.

I got it because when I looked at it, I got a boner...Plus I had wanted a .308 caliber rifle for quite some time and it was going to be either this or a Springfield M1. I am not a competition shooter, I am a practical shooter. I like to be able to hit my mark, doesn't have to be within the size of an Altoid, but as long as I can hit something and kill it, I am satisfied. Most of my rifles are compact, easy to carry and reliable. I went ahead and put a light weight Harris bipod on it and a Leupold VX-2 3-9x scope, done deal...

.308 sps tactical aac-sd. The 20 inch barrel is a more practical size. Its already threaded for a muzzle break. I added a bushnell elite tactical 6-24x 50 mm scope. I can hit anything I see.

                I have a 700P in .308 and a 700CDL in .30-06. I didn't want to overpay for a 5R.

My next rifle will be a 700 in .223

                  I have a R700 AAC-SD. When I shoot-out the barrel I will put a Krieger 5R 20in on it.

Already put large bolt knob and timney trigger. Next step is stock then true up the action.

I've owned a 5R and it was sexy, but I'm a fan of black and the duracoat finish I had put on it would scratch off when you breathed on it. Most accurate gun I have ever owned however. Amazing!

My next 700 will be the 700 SPS AAC-SD .308 20" Barreled version. I always upgrade the stock to a custom built McMillan anyway, and the metal is fabulous. Should make for a nice stick. Will be a while however.

SPS-V in .308. Put it in a B&C tactical light stock. Added a CDI DBM and topped it off with a Bushnell Tactical Elite 6-24x50mm G2DMR. Had a good deal at BPS so picked it up and improved as I could afford.

For myself I would get the cheapest rifle I could buy.
I say that because the trigger barrel and stock would be removed for upgrades.
