I hunt with a friend who has an old one in 308. He's killed more deer with it than I can count. Not that I can count that high but he's got a garage full of antlers. If you find one buy it. Great rifles.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Thanks for the advice rm1911 just waiting for an answer. osis32 I can agree it not the prettiest rifle but I can also agree its not ugly. I would say IMO the ugliest lever gun would have to be Winchester 1887 shotgun. that being said I would love to find one. I also think in terms of firearms that are ugly again just my opinion the Rossi Circuit judge is hard to look at. Cool concept but really cheesy looking.Comment

Whew, our aesthetics are far apart... The Winchester model 95 and the Browning BLR take a little getting used to (I think it's the lack of a tubular magazine), but the Savage is in a world of its own on the aesthetics front.
I've known girls like that... Super comfy, fun to play with, and make you want more but not necessarily something that makes think 'I need to show off to my friends!'.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

I've only hunted with my 99 in .308 once back in the late 80's but, it produced a nice buck. I really need to pull the old thing out and take it to the range soon.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

I got a lead from another member in the process of picking one up guys. Once I get her I will post pictures. Glad to hear that there are other members out there that still shot these. CSACANNONEER definitely take her out for some fresh air. Post some pics of your guys rifles. You guys rock scopes or open sights? I already have a Ruger left hand bolt in 308 so I might rock the iron sights. Last buck I got was with my Winchester 30-30 at about 30 yards so I figure open sight would be just fine.Comment

yeah we have different tastes obviously :P you must like the boxy lines of cadillac while I prefer something more rounded like a mercedes.Whew, our aesthetics are far apart... I just filled out my application for C&R 03FFL. Thanks for the heads up hk91666. Just need to mail it out and play the wait game now. Hopefully it doesn't take as long as some of the other posts I have read, 6 months?!? How long did you have to wait?Comment

I inherited a Savage 99F from my dad. I haven't fired it in 40 years. It's a nice one made in the 1950's. The last time I fired it, I had a difficult time zeroing it. By the 3rd shot the point of impact drifted significantly. I had to let it cool off for 20 minutes between groups......Comment
