Apples: The True Value Hardware store in Ojai has two Ammo Boxes full of .41 Mag Factory Ammo that someone put in to sell to whom ever.

Various loads but lots of LA Ammo "range ammo" loaded in New Starline cases with plated bullets, and new in box full house loads form Hornady adn other name brands. Might be something to look at for your 1894 FG

Prices are @ $150 per Ammo Box or about .50 per round. This is nice stuff and if I had a .41 I'd already have bought it.

Try 805-646-8669 ask for Dave the owner, and tell him I sent you.

Thanks for your reply, Randy. It is appreciated. I have a very good stash of the LAX plated fare in Starline brass. I have been "investing" in it for several years before the scamdemic.

Since velocities from the carbine may exceed the plated projectiles' +/-1250 fps speed limit (I have seen plated bullet shedding in carbine bores) I pull the plated and install Hornady XTPs in batches of 100 as I need them.

Once I can get this thing up to you for a chamber portal chamfer, it should feed SWCs too. That'd be great!

            7 hours later...

I just got home from a run up to Ojai, where I bought 650 rounds of .41 Mag for .60 per round, tax included.

Not a bad haul. 500 of it is like most of what I have already, that's the LAX "New" manufactured, featuring Starline brass, a 210 grain plated (more than likely Berry's) and enough pistol powder to propel the slug to their advertised 966 fps. Should be 250+ fps faster from the 20" carbine, which is why I'll yank the plated and stuff some XTP over the hole... but not before visually verifying no double-charges. Once I shoot these that way, I use the once-fired brass to build my various .41 Mag handloads. Bingo.

The remainder of those 650 rounds were 100 rounds Hornady commercially-loaded with their brass and their 210 grain XTP to 1115 from a 4" barrel. Might be another 200-250 fps from those out of the Marlin 1894 FG. Then there were 50 rounds Remington HTP/High Terminal Performance 210 gr jacketed soft point loads, normally $2 per round.

            Score! Thanks W.R. Buchanan.

After my purchase I stopped at Randy's shop and chewed the fat for an hour. Saw his unbelievable hand-built Jeep based on a Scrambler (but nothing's stock no mo), and some time admiring the machine tools along with a bit of good politics and a bit of how-to-fix for the Marlin carbine issues.

Great morning. Spent just over 4 hours on the road and $45 in gas.

Sounds like a good time. We used to play golf at the Soule course in Ojai 45+ years ago. I don't even know if the course is still there.

FWIW, Rick (Phillips) has been sitting on some Xtream 41mag, 210gr FP bullets for a while.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Chris: You're welcome any time! Glad to be of service. Pretty sure you're going to be able to do that chamber mod yourself and if you have any questions just call me.
