But I have seen lots of regular paid employees sucking up those paid days off and not caring about the loss of productivity at all.

just a .015 edge break would fix the problem. I think we'll see something like it.

Bob, didn't you have a couple nice Marlins?

I've said it before. I wouldn't swap my made in 2018 1984c for anything marked JM. I got a good one.

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

As mentioned above, there were some garbage rifles made in the mid 2000s, even before Remington.

And most people that have a gun with "JM" stamped on it think its worth a mint.

My remlin had an issue with reliable feeding, they did a good job fixing it and paid for shipping both ways. That was good enough for me, and I love the gun.

Every manufacturer will have occasional problems, as long as they fix them I'm fine. Have owned at least 4 Rugers, but haven't had a reason to try their customer service yet which I count as good as well. Will probably pick up at least one more, and maybe a ruglin at some point too. Fortunately my safe is full at the moment, so I can save so money at least for now.

I’ve been a Ruger fanboy for decades— I have great confidence in their work. I own a Remlin 1894 CSBL and I love it to no end, though it did take some work to get it just so. I can’t wait for a Ruger-made 1895. I think a 20” barrel would be perfect for it.

Not just Remington. The last Marlins made up to 2009 were not excellent either.

Split, it's too bad we did not know then what we know now.

Any older Marlin can be made right between the development done my SASS shooters (Widowmaker/Widder and RustyMarlin), the work done by Randy Buchanan and services of Randall Raush when one may not be mechanically inclined...

In addition, there were a few good rifles that happened to get made during those later Marlin years before the Remlin fiasco. I happen to have a 2007 1895GS that's flawless (but then again it's not an 1894) and a 2005 1894FG in which I replaced the carrier with a New Design carrier (41/44 Magnum part). The FG now only needs it's chamber portal chamfered then it should feed LSWCs.

Even before that. I have four Marlin lever actions in my safe. The only one I have had to do nothing to is my 336CS I bought in 1994, perfect right out of the box. The others:

                            1) Model 1936 that I inherited from my Dad. He had disassembled it many times to "Bergmenize" it refining the trigger release at least. I don't remember him saying that he had to fix anything that was wrong although we learned that the firing pin would break if dry fired on an empty chamber. As this was my first deer rifle when I started hunting with my Dad in high school, I accidently did this a couple of times and so did my brother when he took it over when I bought my Savage 99. We had a gun smith as a friend and Dad had him make new ones when needed.

                            2) My first Marlin lever that I bought was my 39A I bought in 1977. They had a sale on them at a department store in Cupertino so I went down to pick one up. I rejected the first two they showed me, action way too rough and didn't want to deal with it. Third one was better but not perfect but it was one I could deal with (which I did).

                            3) Third Marlin lever I bought was an 1894 I bought off the rack at Big 5 in 2009. It had sat there for months so I decided to give it a home. It was a jam-o-matic, lever would jam in the down position. The front edge of the carrier was sharp and would dig into the next cartridge in the magazine, jamming it. I had to remove it and break that edge and smooth it out to make it work. It is a little rough in other places but not worth spending any time on. It is a good shooter now and very accurate.

Still a giant fan of Marlin. I can remember as a toddler my Dad speaking very highly of his Marlin (and Marlins in general). The two features he liked most on his 1936 was the pistol grip stock and side eject.

It will be nice when they update their website with lever action rifles.
I missed out on a few Marlins I wish I would have purchased.

That may be, I don't doubt it. I was mostly speaking of the fit and finish. The woodwork and bluing went to crap in the late '90s
