This^^^. It can be easily installed or removed in a few seconds. In the brush or at twilight it would be far superior to any Iron Sight, but you would still have them If you desired to use them with out changing anything.

I put a primary arms 5x Prism scope on a savage hog hunter. Just could not get the scope back far enough and my head forward enough to get a decent sight picture. Had to switch to a vortex.

I realize that’s a poor comparison as it’s an ACOG lower cost competitor and a bolt gun, but it’s all I got for ya.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

If you can make it work, run it well, and it is reliable, YES, by all means use an ACOG on a lever rifle. It is a tool, to get a job done. If it means feeding your family, set yourself up with every advantage possible. You are using it for you, not a bunch of farts on the internet who you don’t need to impress, or earn the approval of. The End.

I'm asking because I have some stuff laying around without an extra AR15 to put them on. I also have an RMR type 1 which handles rifles but not pistols. My Burris MTAC for 308 is also lonely. That'd probably be best one I figure out the hash marks to 300 or so.

Yep. If it's 5.56 or .308, definately put a scope on it if you'd like.

I think your grandfather was friend with my grandfather, or maybe my grandmother??

No optics or stupid rails on a levergun. Receiver sights and sling swivel studs are the ONLY acceptable modifications!

A scope on a lever gun is obscene.... a scope on a lever gun carbine is an abomination. It is just plain WRONG.

If it helps you hit your target. Go with it.
