If you like Trijicon why not go with a low magnification variable scope like the Accupower 1 - 4 x 24?

      Functional? Perhaps.
      Sacrilege? Absolutely.

Based upon that picture above with the ACOG on the rifle, it seems like it sits so high that a riser is needed on the stock.

while nostalgia might be some people's objection to a scope on a lever rifle, there are actually more technical and practical reasons not to. depending on what you intend to do with the rifle that is.

mechanical off set. with a scope you have to start taking into account bullet impact at close range vs where your cross hair was place.

          For hunting, not a issue.

For self defense, it becomes a possible issue. depending on choice of scope.

I have a cheap $100 Bushnell red dot on my 30-30. Works great and I can lob the round almost 400 yards with accuracy.

Listen, Axel, I understand you are with us on the Farb side here (we have cookies!) but those pics are just... dirty. Try to put a positive spin on things, okay?

I have a Bushnell Red Dot on my Marlin 1894Dark. It works great. I have several lever guns ranging from a 1898 vintage Marlin to a Savage 1899 to the newest "Dark" series from Marlin.

I like the Red Dot on my Marlin. It is fast and accurate.

The reason I shoot, hunt, fish and reload alone is because I don't base my purchases on pleasing the crowd.

Another Simpsons reference to illustrate my point. Remember when Homer and Marge were on a marriage retreat but Homer was obsessed with catching a giant catfish? When Marge asked him who he was trying to impress Homer said "those weirdos at the wormstore!"

                      Yeah, it's kinda like that.

I don't have a scope on any of my rifles. I have nothing against them, they're just not for me. My Winchester Model 94 is an angle eject and is set up for a scope but I've never considered putting one on.

I totally agree. If he must put something on then a red dot would be better on a lever.

whatever increases the chance of a hit. 30-30 is a 200 yard cartridge, a red dot is fine.

200 yards is far enough for me, even with 30-06.

The purpose of the question was to determine if the ACOG on its mount was of appropriate height for use on a levergun. It is likely too high without adding a riser.

I know I know, but the look on peoples faces when I throw those rounds at the steel targets at Lytle Creek just makes it funny
