    About that Uberti red...

Y'all know that Covid fever that sets in after being off work for a week?
OK, maybe you don't, but my Italian '73 fell victim to it. Actually, the whole Italian crew fell victim to it.
Off came the Uberti red polyshellacM&Mshellneededanexorcisttoremovecoating and on went a more traditional stain and Tru-Oil finish.

    What do y'all think?

WWWAAAYYY better! In fact, you have performed a near-miraculous transformation. Well done! sir.

Tell us more about the chamberings of each of your iconic firearms, please.

And why is not?! your name among the rest of the illustrious roster of the Mojave Lever Crew? Why?! You do us a disservice, my good man.

Well thank you sir for the compliment.
The whole arsenal is chambered in .357 magnum and they work phenomenally well in that caliber. I have owned one of the pistols for something like 6 years, but had gotten into Cowboy Action Shooting last October. Lo and behold, I had an excuse to buy more firearms. (Fully condoned, authorized and blessed by the Mrs. no less.)
As luck would have it, Cimarron was having a sale at the time on the pistol and rifle. With my windfall savings still jangling in my pocket, I happened upon a good deal on a Winchester 97 here in the classifieds.
Viola! I'm a gunslinging cowboy now.

I truly have meant no insult to the fine congress of the MLC. Things just kinda have gone sideways as of late and soon I hope to be able avail myself of the camaraderie of you fine, upstanding citizens.

Consider it availed! my good man. Your name is engraved upon the MLC roster.

Where/what part of the State do you do your SASS shootin'? The closest group to me is over 1.5 hours east across a megalopolis of stalled traffic on a good day. This makes for a very sad Apples...

Wait... you're just 40 miles south of where I live...

          Well thank you again.
So far, I've only been to 3 ranges.
Panorama in Sylmar, West End in Lytle Creek and Route 66 in Devore. The Cajon Cowboys call the Devore range home and it's very impressive. They just rebuilt most of it after having been burned out a few years back.

That's a fine job and it looks great. I've been concentrating on lever guns and SA revolvers lately and I'm really enjoying it.

I recently bought two Taylor's/Uberti 1873 single actions (one is still in jail) to go with my Winchester Model 94 and Henry Big Boy. All are in 45 Colt.
My local Turners has a Taylor's single action 357 magnum in stock that will be my next purchase. I plan on getting the Marlin 1894 CB to go with it.

I didn't think I needed them, but man, what a difference.

Nice, they offer Custom Bone & Charcoal Color Case Hardening.
They offer it for lever guns, revolvers and 1911s!

Thanks Duece. As an added plus, they feel much better in the hand. The factory stuff was way too slick.

                            Very nice job!

I gotta swim upstream a little though, think I like the red better. We have one too. I will probably refinish the wood some day, its got a dent that needs work in the forearm, but I'll stay with the red. How they came back in the day. I'll use this after stripping the factory finish (which I certainly admit could be better):

Shop gunsmithing tools (586) at Brownells, including bench blocks, hammer & punch sets, screwdrivers, and tool kits for firearm maintenance and repairs.

In the pre 64 flavor which is pretty darn red. Nice job and purely a personal taste observation nothing more.

Rev, the new wood looks way better to my eye(eyes?). Real nice collection you have going there.
