Shot some more rounds through the chrono the other day. 3.6g of old Herc Red Dot was a pretty dang consistent ~910 fps.

If they shoot as accurate through my Dan Wesson, Security Six and Blackhawk as I think they will, I think that'll be my go-to 38 special load (although I'd like it up closer to but under 1000) and then I can work on a 357 Magnum hunting load.

I've ordered a few mag followers from them. The price is right and they don't gouge on shipping like a certain other shop dealing in these items does.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I could've saved 50!... but then I'd PAY someone 50 to not have to deal with Turners.

Jokes aside, I support M.B. Retting in Culver City.

Then again, MBR had just two. I bought one, and the other went quickly. Turners may be the only so cal retailer that would have any '94 SBLs.

Turners never had 44's at all.... and now this.

They must have got at least 50 of them I'm guessing to advertise this

More shooting it today, probably 200 or more rounds, and still love it. I think I've settled on 4.0g of Red Dot with a 158 Bayou Bullet for ~950fps. Shoots well in the lever, and really well in my Dan Wesson. Now to load some magnum hunting stuff...

I've found that if the rifle is tilted 90 degrees to the left, it will jam when trying to get a round in. I was seated and catching a few individual pieces of brass to look at them and if I worked the lever when the rifle was 90 degrees sideways, it jammed every time. Easy clearing by just turning it somewhat upright again and closing the lever though.

Anyone have a lead-free 357 Mag hunting load they are in love with?

Ohh, lead free hunting load. No, can not help there. I do not hunt any longer, but, would still be interested in that. If I find something, I'll PM you Spyder.
There are some factory loads available in non lead. Barnes VOR-TX?

Sir, yes sir. It's a 140 grain solid copper hollerpoint at 1265 fps. Part number: BB357M2 21543

Their 180 grain .41 Barnes factory load shoots really well in my 1894FG.

Don't let the lighter weight fool you. They can't be as heavy because copper isn't as dense, therefore the copper boolit has to be longer but there's a limit as there needs to be some room in the case for powder (ya think?!). But they don't shed any weight in target, effectively acting as a heavier bullet according to some.

Barnes' website has load data for .357 Magnum using a 110, a 125 or a 140 grain XPB

Gitcherself some of them thar XPBs!

Hmm, those Barnes bullets opens up an interesting thought. Hmm.
Happy New Year all you calgunner's.
He-he. I see another handloading project happening.

                        1895 SBL 45/70

I struggled between the .44 Magnum and 45/70 Gov. Just ordered the 1895 SBL 45/70 and the feelings are anticipation and excitement, but bittersweet because of all the great ideas above regarding the .44 Magnum. Lever guns are special.

                          Flutted Bullets

I've been trying to learn what I can about Black Hills HoneyBadger rounds and the Lehigh Defense bullets that I believe they use. Anyone have information / experience?

I examined and tested the stainless cst in 357. Overall I give it the thumbs up. Machine work and finish was pretty good. (Allot better than earlier Remington Marlins). Sights were good and fit/inlet of the stock was pre-Remington quality.

                            Action fed smoothly.

The only "downside" to the CST is the fact that the stocks are painted wood rather than a synthetic. A good soak in the rain will make the stocks swell and crack that black finish. (I know from experience).
