Thoughts..marlin 1894 csbl stainless 357 carbine

The 1894C is a hoot to shoot. Matches up nice with a Ruger Blackhawk. Been shooting an older JM marked version. Accurate, easy to reload for.

I would lean towards a tang sight over the ghost ring.

Apples makes a great case for the .44 chambering. Hopefully Marlin has got their act together with the feeding issues as he sugggests. I'm interested in stainless finished guns, and a lever action in .44 would make a nice addition to our reference collection.
I'm watching this thread to see how these new versions work out. If you guys can get the barrels hot, dirty, dusty, etc, and keep 'em running 100%, I'd take another chance.
Now if Miroku only made a SS .44 Magnum......

The sights on mine are pretty rad. I only paid 909 for the thing, not so much different than the 899 an 1894c was for sale at a local shop for.
They're what, 650 or 700 at sportsmans warehouse?

That seems reasonable for a decent firearm these days.

'Apples makes a great case for the .44 indeed. And any number cartridge/calibers. I went shooting with him last Tuesday with golfish and his son. 'Apples knows how to shoot. Period. Been thinking of a lever .45 for a bit, but, after shooting 'Apples .41, that just might be my next lever gun. That cartridge has it ALL!

The 1894 sbl in 44 magnum looks to be a very suitable hog/deer/home defense/fun range gun. It would be on my short list if I was in the market for a pistol caliber lever gun. Actually, it would be at the top of my short list.

The 1894 CSBL & 1984 SBL look like the littler brothers of the 1985 SBL.

I am a sucker of lever action rifles... If I see them in the LGS, I'd buy them in a heart beat.

They are, but the Models 1894 shown here and Model 1895 are the same size gun. What differs is the way the receiver is machined, the bolt (think Model 336) and of course the chambering.

The .44 SBL doesnt seem to be as plentiful as it's two .357 siblings (the CST and CSBL) right now. I want one.

Put about 150 rounds through it today. I love it! No failures or malfunctions, smooth, accurate, recoil with 357 is light. I'm going to have to work up a plinking load and a lead free magnum load...if I ever manage to find time to work on gun projects again.

Also, I just got notification that the 44 SBL is in stock at Centerfire. I'm going to have to pass on it for now. Not enough spare $.

Am I the only one that doesn’t see a need for a big loop? Every lever I’ve ever shot has a regular loop and was fine. I’m not John Wayne sized and don’t need to shoot with mittens on. The big loop seems like it would actually be slower to operate.

I don't care much for the large loop but the loop on these guns look to be on the medium size. I'd like to see this gun with a walnut stock and in blue. I really like the med loop with the pistol grip stock.
