Budget chassis system recommendations

Looking to upgrade my r700 5r stock to a chassis system. I am finding the grip a tad uncomfortable and wondering what everyone would recommend.

Folding would be nice so I can fit it in my standard ar bag

Chassis systems and budget usually don't go together. I have the AI system and I think they are tops, worth the money.

McRee precision is probably best buy for a folding chassis, around $650. If you can live with non-folding, the new KRG Bravo will be about $350.

It sets up quickly and is easy to work with. Right before it gets real hard it will get warm to the touch and you can rough shape your new design using a half round rasp.
This will cost you less than $25 and it allows you to see if your changes are an improvement or not.

Norm a fan of the grip. I shoot better with the pistol grip

id suggest you try and find a couple of guys shooting chassis and get behind a couple and see how they feel before buying.
id also suggest not buying a chassis because its cheap...you get what you pay for so if you need to wait and save a little more money.

that said ive owned and shot a few chassis and never cared for them for different reasons...i just bought a MPA comp chassis for a new build and i really like this chassis...the MPA is a very well designed chassis and when you get behind it you can tell a lot of thought went into it.

as far as a folder goes i had one fail in a comp and is what ultimately made me go back to a mcmillan A5...IMHO a folder is just another unneeded link.

They are very nice stocks.
I have put a couple on rifles and sat behind them on the bench while bore sighting, but I have not used one on my own guns yet.

I only paid 600 for my 5r and hard to justify paying more for a chassis

If I got a chassis that uses an ar tube. Would I be able to add a folding mechanism and make it into a folder while keeping the tight feel of a regular stock?

Check out Modular Driven Technologies (MDT). I paid $420 for an LSS Chassis. I used stuff I had laying around to finish it. Buffer tube , LUTH-AR stock and a Magpul MOE grip.
