On the subject of ELR shooting I think one big problem the super-wildcats have is you just don't get to shoot them enough. Ammo is expensive, barrels burn out, you the shooter get fatigued.
With smaller cartridges like the 338 Lapua you can get a rifle for $850 and a scope for $1,000 and go play at 2,000 yards for less than two grand, including ammo.
While it isn't cheap, you can still afford to send 50 rounds down range in a session, try that with a 375-50 and you'll be spent, flinching, and broke.
What I'm saying is the best rifle for you is one that you shoot well, not one that someone else shoots well. You.
And that takes time and practice.
