I don't want to come off as a braggart, but without magnified optics I can ring the 12" gong 10/10 with my AR at practical combat distances*

Same hit ratio with pistols at CQB distances**

Bench shooting I've only tried out to 800 and can hit consistently on my bolt action.

AR with iron sights, I can manage 500 but in the prone. Kneeling or sitting that shrinks to almost half on man-sized targets.

-Irons w/ Ar-15 supported prone out to about 500
-Magnified optics on Ar-15 supported prone about 700 with no wind and good factory ammo
                - Ar10 about 1200 supported prone with magnified optics
300WM custom bolt gun, don't have enough range, but was sub MOA at 1600 which is the farthest I have access to shooting.

I can barely make a decent group with a pistol at 25 yards, even with a wilson supergrade.

Consistently? That means different things to different people. Holding 8" 5 or 10 shot groups at 1000 yards is not something anyone can do all the time but, many of us can do it a fair amount of the time.

I am seeing some familiar names in this thread and I think most of us have the competition targets to back it up. If you want to see some people making hits at range come to one of the many long range matches in the state. I like the NCPPRC in Sac but there are many. I was there some time ago and saw a guy put three rounds in the head of the target at 1000 in a 15mph, gusty, near full value wind. I was impressed to say the least. I am personally making a load to shoot at the URSA 2054yrd match one of these days when I don't have to work on the day they hold it. Granted that is with a 338 LM, but with practice, a good shooting position, and good wind reading you can get a lot done. I find the 185gr Berger a real contender for 308 long range loads.

I don't even need to see the video to arrive at the same conclusion. Shooting is just like golf and fishing. There is what actually happened out there, and then there is the long winded self-aggrandizing that occurs in the clubhouse, around the campfire, etc. As much as everyone fancies themselves as some sort of junior Jerry Miculek/Vasuly Zaitsev/Carlos Hathcock/Alvin York/SimoHayha/That Canadian Guy, most people are probably about average in their skills.

I hit a manhole cover sized steel at Pala 20 for 20 at a measured 800 from the prone, using the military bipod, using my HKSR9T and non hand loaded match ammo.

Once I got the dope right it was boring, almost no wind.

If anyone wants to call bs on that, good for you. It's not like I'm claiming anything smaller than a 28 inch group.

90% accuracy at 600 yards with irons (AR CMP "Service Rifle") in a 12"-8" circle. If the aiming black is physically that small my hit percentage goes down to 50% for an 8" target, but stays pretty high if the target is 16". I have the comp tracking to back it up.

This is with a known gun at a known distance on a known range. Get rid of any of those knowns and it becomes a luck game for me.
