Wondering if there is anyone here who is seriously considering just getting rid of their AR's and not have to deal with all the AW, featureless, fixed mag BS?

I owned 2 ARs, a 6.8 and a 223. I sold the 6.8 already because it was a planned hunting rifle but I just didn't want to go the featureless route with it and honestly who knows if the BB2 will be acceptable.

I still have a target AR, 24" bull barrel that I only use for targets. I'm seriously considering selling it and building up a nice bench rifle in it's place. I have have an ARmaglock but have not installed it, not sure if it will qualify yet as fixed mag. I have a Magpul PRS stock on it. To go featureless all I need to do is change out the grip but don't know if DOJ will consider the PRS telescoping. Then there are the transportation issues if registered as an AW. The worry of getting stopped with it in either featureless or BB2 configuration and having LEO not know if it's legal or not being not registered as an AW.

Not sure, (for myself) if it's worth the hassle/risk...

Am I alone in this thinking?

I have been tossing around the idea of moving from the AR to an M1A. Don't want to just give up but the idea of registration bothers me and going featureless so what, I can remove the bullet button?? Just Seems the M1A would be a safe way to go.

Funny you ask. Last week my two AR's went on a long road trip to Utah to live out their last remaining days in freedom. I'm down to shotties, 22., and bolt actions. It was like watching my firstborn leave for college.

But the fact is, I've never shot them in CA. I've only shot them on trips to NV and UT to visit family. They'll see more love there and they'll still get shot just as much by me.

I'm looking to replace them with Rossi 92 in 357 and maybe some M14's.

Suppose I could just arm up with my bow and exploding tips like Rambo.

Except we don't know if we can lose the bullet button or not. I wouldn't count on it...

I've been looking at relocating for the last year and I will be a resident of Nevada by 12/31/2017. When I come back to Cali I'll just bring my lever/bolt rifles.

Why would you get rid of manually operated ARs? The laws do not apply to them.

OP you ever think some people in this forum might actually like bolt actions, which is why we own them? I much prefer shooting a bolt action for target /distance shooting than most of my semis.

My decision to buy bolt actions had nothing to do with that is happening on the featured rifle side. That said, not planning on selling any ARs either. I will probably end up with a couple featureless and a couple registered AWs... with the cost of lowers its not really an expensive venture.

I just realized I posted this in the manual section by mistake. I know many or you appreciate bolt action and so do I. My dilemma is not really wanting to register which I can hopefully avoid with the use of the ARMaglock but we don't know if that will satisfy the new laws yet. I can easily go featureless with a pistol grip swap to a monster man grip and if my PRS is iffy I can always throw on an M2 stock. Barrel has a target crown so muzzle device is a non issue for me. the other thing is we don't really know how long featureless configuration will be allowed. I only have the 1 AR so it wouldn't be the end of the world for me to sell it and build another nice bolt gun. Guess I'll just wait and see how the new law is spelled out before I decide what I'll do.
