I vote .30-06. Good ballistics without going to a magnum. Plenty of ammo in various grains. Iconic and a great hunting round.

The only issue I can see is the lack of match grade ammo.

I can't say it's "The King". But my favorite 30 cal. Round is 7.62x39.... Super cheap for plenty of practice. Rifles come in many varieties and barrel lengths for brush guns and target. Proven military and hunting capabilities. I have hunted deer, boar, and even javelina with no disappointments

          30-06.

But I'm glad you put 30-30 in there.

Different cartridges are better for different purposes. For all around fun, it's hard to beat 7.5x55.

I went with .308 and it's all I need, but I don't have experience with the others 30's.

I'll vote for my 300 Weatherby Magnum. Also have 300 Win Mag and 30-06 so I've got it all covered.

The King of 1000 yards is the 300 Ackley with 63% of all the wins but this is older data from around 2005.
It is simply the 300 Weatherby with the double radius shoulder changed to a standard 40 degree Ackley with less body taper.
You can make the cases out of 300 or 375 H-H 300 or 340 Weatherby or just about any of the 2.8+ inch 0.532 magnum cases.
It makes a great hunting round and with today's newer scopes it makes a shots over 400 yards a lot easier.
Couple it with a 198 Flatline Bullet and look out.

I own a .308 but have to go with 30-06. It has killed Commies AND Nazis!

The 300 Norma is the new king

Yesterday I was running 198 gn Flatline solids at 3200 fps. There is more there; but, it put 7 in the same hole @ 100. Thats 5 mils to 1000 and 16 mils to 2000.

I know this can be done in 300 Win mag also.

The 30-06 is unarguably the most popular and versatile 30 caliber round.

I think the Flatline bullets are going to change the long-range game in 2017 and beyond.
