    Clamp-on Muzzle Break

    Yay or nay?

I have heard some horror stories, but it sounds like quality breaks (like Witt) seem to do well.

I am attracted to the fact that it is not permanent, and I, personally, like the aesthetics of the clamping system. I am not attracted to the idea of a $100 muzzle break flying down range 18ft.

    Opinions?

      Threaded brakes aren't permanent either.

I used to have one on a heavier barrel with no taper up front. Worked great.

I just buy everything threaded now. Don't see any advantage to doing it otherwise.

Welp, seems to answer my question.

Thank you all for your input

                  Nope...

The only "clamp on" brake to use is the ones that require threading and have a clamp system to secure it so no timing is needed, like the Badger FTE brakes. This allows you to spin off the brake rather easily and does not need a smith to time the brake or use jam nuts.

They make clamp-on brakes? No thanks, I'll stick to my threaded brakes. I don't like the idea of clamping anything directly onto my rifles.

I think they're fine for ruger 10/22's... but that's about it.

Would you put clamp on brakes on your car??

the scientific name for "clamp on" is actually "fall off"
