This is kind of the point I was trying to convey earlier. You dont need to justify why or what you bought. You bought a new toy and were excited to show it to us. Nobody needs to explain why this or that is the better choice, you didnt ask for that.

Why cant you guys just be happy for a fellow shooter?

sigpicWhy do I have my firearms? 1) Its my choice and right to have them. 2) Its not only about hunting, its about defending myself/family/friends and those who cant defend themselves from which the USConstitution provides me with those rights contained within it. 3) I will uphold my Bill of Rights and the US Constitution and abide by it as it was written by our great countries founding fathers. Dont tread on me, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed!

        Does it work?
How much trigger time do you have with it?
How far have you shot with it?
What kind of groups do you get at that distance?

Lol u have shot it Gilla, so has Spyder, and timdpms

You know where I shot it, and the groupings I have at 100 yards with it are definitely satisfying. And I know me and you have a complete different taste in firearms lol

This has nothing to do with tastes in guns. Guns are like wimin, each man has his preferred flavor. I dont question those kinds of decisions.

Buying a long range gun and shooting it at 100y is like getting a Masters Degree and getting a job as a cook at Red Lobster.

There's no need to justify your purchase. It's what you wanted, and you are happy.
Golden boy, I said it too. I was also trying to get across to you the merits of the Savage in what came about as a cartridge debate.

For $300ish more dollars, you have Shilen do you a pre-cut 300WSM. Now you can shoot another great cartridge for your rifle. Savages are DIY barrel changes. Then, for Lapua, you simply need to purchase the 0.59" Savage bolt and a barrel the same way. Then, congratulations, you have just got your Lapua Magnum for less than $1000.

In now way shape or form are you bound to just the 300WM because you bought it in that cartridge. In my large rifles, I run two switch-barrel configurations as I don't have the money or the space to store six different gigantic guns.

That's one of the whole points of buying a Savage, you can rechamber your own gun without going to a gunsmith.

I own the same Rifle . It loves 190 grain Blackhills Ammo . Have almost the exact same set up except I have a Sightron scope. Avoid anything in a poly tip round . The action bends the tip and will send the rds everywhere .It's fun to shoot and won't beat your shoulder. Just make sure nobody is to left and right of you when shooting.
I'm glad I picked mine up when I did . I'm unsure on the barrel life. I'm actually unsure of how man rounds I have run though it .

I have not yet been to the 1000 yard range in Sacramento and chances are that I actually have nice match grade ammo and drive that 2 hours to get there are probably like once or twice a year if that.
So, just to be clear, you spent ~$4k one a gun that you admittedly will actually put to use maybe 1 time per year.

For the record, my 1941A1 in .30-06 that you shot makes the gong ring just fine at 440y. If you cant hear that, maybe you should have your hearing checked. If you just want to 'feel' that 'big gun' feel, I'll load it with some 190g SMK's and you can feel that steel butt-plate ram into your shoulder. =)

No not clear, I wanted something that will shoot the 440 easily and have an entry level long range caliber for if something changes and am able to shoot further. I didn't go with .338 because of ammo reasons that I mentioned earlier. I didn't stick with .308 for already having one.

I spent 4k praise I wanted a precision rifle that I can swap the barrel myself, like the looks, manage the recoil, and because I like how it shoots. I like the chassis on it, the barrel, and how everything is over sized.

And I'm glad u like the curvy women... I couldn't imagine being the only one

Golden, just give gilla a gentle ear caress, it'll fix him.
