I'm in the mood to build me one. I've built a few ar15's but never a pistol version so looking to learn more about different builds before I start my own.
The first thing I read in the thread was that I can not use an existing lower that was built into a complete rifle, this lower can only now be built as a rifle? I must use a new stripped lower and have it categorized as a pistol? I lower categorized as a pistol can first be built as a pistol, and later made to a rifle and back to pistol no problems? Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I could not find a AR pistol specific one.

the problem in CALIF is you can't take a new lower & regester as a pistol....does not meet the safe hand gun roster
so a few ways to build
buy a ar pistol ftf from someone here used
buy a ar pistol through mail as SSE
build an ar pistol from an 80%

Should also be noted that building from an 80% should also be built as SSE.

if I build a pistol out a 80% do I have to register it afterwards and SSE?

So I cant or can built a 80% lower into a pistol and have 10 round mag?

there are a ton of threads to help answer all you want or need to know
pretty sure it's all in this thread too
you build as SSE 1st, then you can remove 0 rd sled & install 10rd
has to be BB equipped & be over 10.5" & min 6" barrel to start.
