On calguns like new equals 1000 rounds fired as oppose to the i only shot a box of ammo.

I picked up an MC operator from Riflegear and I am extremely happy with it.

A friend of mine has a full rail TRP and he gave me the "grip tape" grips and I added skateboard grip tape to the front strap. Took it it the range and I actually prefer the Pachmyr grips.

In comparison to the TRP, I'm not a fan of the rear target sights and the aggressive front strap checkering but that boils down to personal preference. Takedown on the MC operator is easier with the G.I. setup unless you switch to a tool less guide rod for the TRP. Fit is comparable. The TRP has a better finish. I noticed the grip safety has the Armory Kote and the slide to frame is blended on the rear by the hammer.

Not bashing or praising one over the other. They're both awesome 1911's.

I checked out a couple of these today. Both tight as a drum in all directions - like couldn't be tighter unless you wanted a 500 round break-in. Felt great. I like the grips, spring housing, safeties, etc... and good triggers, but they do vary a bit. The finish is beautiful too, and the green is bad *****.

I don't want to start a new thread, but can I get some attitude as to why the front slide grip grooves? are cool?

I think they ruin the look and would drag in the holster ... or something.

I had a SS Officers since the '80's until recently, so I have personal experience.

The Front Cocking Serrations are meant to aid in press checking but they are mainly there for looks. I'm with you and would prefer a clean slide but unfortunately, the Loaded, Trp's and MC Op's all have them. They can be removed with a High Power cut, but I don't really like that look either so I've chosen to live with them until I can afford a Pro!

Almost time to spring your new toy from jail. Not to worry, 48 hours will pass quickly (enough).

Hope you stocked up on mags and ammo and planned a trip to the range.

FYI, friend of mine talked to the SA rep at SHOT. They are NOT discontinuing the CA-legal MC Operator. They ARE still releasing the new one but they are keeping the old too.

                        Serrations - that's it.

I heard press checking was silly, but I suppose safety in any form is a good thing.
