But I didn't go back to put them back into the two guns.

I liked how the first-gen LCI on the Ruger MKIII could actually cause an AD

seems that if the LCI was hit hard enough, it could actually dent the rim of the case just like the firing pin did, and the round doesn't care if the firing pin or an LCI caused the primer compound to be ignited, bang goes the round. Ruger ended up changing the design from a one-piece LCI to a two-piece LCI so that would be less likely to occur.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

the LCI on my shield goes unnoticed.... it affects nothing for me and if someone drugged me and removed it.. I prolly wouldn't notice for a few months!

Just a real non-issue for me....

      I don't see a downside so far......

Gun was actually dry. But the lci is a bugger to clean out. I usually hold it up, and guide a patch with my finger nail along the red strip of it, and use a pic to try and get any gunk out of that channel. Without removing it or using an ultrasonic bath, it couldn't have been cleaner and freer of lube. That doesn't mean that there wasn't a glob in the channel it sits in, beyond sight and missed by my attempts.

The ejector didn't seem "clogged" or gummed up when I cleaned the gun, but to be sure I used a pipe clear and flossed it as it were. I suppose if the ejector had been the culprit, it could have launched the case into the lci rather than out of the gun? Is that what you are thinking?

LCI is an added complication that could cause a failure, while providing 0 additional value/benefit for the risk (IMO)

Just like many of the new gun regulations, its a fix to a problem that doesn't exist.

I removed mine on the Ruger MK111 before I even shot it. Just another part that can & does cause malfunction. There was a thread & even a debate about this awhile ago. Vendors make a part that bolts up nice & flat, no worries, change it out you'll love it.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

I've seen 2 S&W shields where the LCI caused FTF. I would steer clear of any LCI that was not designed with the original blueprints for the gun. It's just one more part that can cause problems.
