If you push in and upwards at the same time, the slide stop goes in without the need for a notch. It does so with the original slide stop on my Baer PII anyway. I did buy a 10-8 slide stop that has it pre-notched, so I can just push it straight in though. Some brands have it already notched. 10-8 and WC have it on there.

+1 i use something similar to a CC but its just a small flimsy piece of plastic. works like a charm. kinda like using training wheels.... but it prevents irreversible damage so im gonna roll with it

I sent my Springfield in to their Custom Shop for some mods, this was one of them. They call it "EZ In/Out".
What did Springfield charge you for the mod?

I knew nothing about idiot scratches when I got my first 1911. When I first stumbled on the topic I ran to my gun to see how bad it was. Surprisingly there were no marks. Phew. Just to be safe I tried using a credit card but found it too thick. Looking around for something thinner I grabbed a guitar pick that has been working great for me.

It's probably cheapest to buy a needle file and a bottle of cold blue and modify the one you have. I did this on my 1911 a few months ago and it literally took me about five minutes. Makes reassembly super easy.

Mods are around $10-$15 if you do it yourself.

if everyones so worried about the idiot scratch, i wonder what you all do about holster wear? oh thats right the safe is the holster for most of us on calguns
Slapping an upper onto a lower is not "building" an AR-15.

What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you illiterate pawns not understand!?

Funny. Both of my 1911s have the scratch, and they still shoot just fine.
