That's an interesting analogy Mr. Sunday! I'll have to remember that one next time I'm asked how I justify owning high end guns. Lol

I feel like this has gone off track a bit. I'm not really looking for another loaded 1911, but I appreciate all the input. From the responses, it certainly doesn't sound like people are going down the cost ladder with 'next' purchases

I'll give the SA mil-spec another look, it does seem a little more true to the WW2 design. However, the roll mark is also part of the nostalgia, so I am not sure. Gotta do some more thinking and see what really matters.

I would go up the cost ladder and get a Dan Wesson Pointman 7. SA MC Operator is also a nice gun, if you are okay with a green frame. I've done some research over the past 2 weeks looking for my first 1911 and I starting looking at Colts, until I realized that there are much better quality 1911's out there. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. I started at 1000, then 1500 and settled on a Baer PII for 2150. I went with the affordable high priced hooker.

Just get a 2nd Kimber in blued. That way, there's is no debating on what you like more.

1911s are an addiction within the gun addiction.
