Nothing wrong with that. I have a Colt 38 Super. Basically stock except for Trik flat trigger and night sights.

I may get a Govt. but in .45.

That's exactly what my concern was, as far as maybe the GI mystique

I don't have beefy hands so the bite isn't a concern so much. I wear a Medium Mechanix glove and live with the fingers being slightly too short. I'll have to try a 70 series configuration, it sounds fantastic by all accounts.

And to address the suggestions about getting a 9mm, I reload in 45, so I can tune in power factor if I need a softer load. 9mm in 1911 form hasn't been a big draw for me. I tend to think CZ (and variants) and Sig when I think hammer fired 9. My first pistols were both Glocks, my 30SF and 35. I grew up shooting my dad's revolvers and P228

The Colt I was able to handle felt really solid actually, and also not as tight as my Kimber. I distinctly remember how uncomfortable the Kimber was to rack the slide with the hammer down. The Colt was smooth and not uncomfortable in that regard. I forgot to feel for slide fit but it otherwise felt and and looked like a well-made gun. I'm also a sucker for a blued gun lol

I'll have to see if one pops up in the Marketplace or trade a few rounds with a range neighbor for a chance to try one. Gotta let this simmer and see how important it is to own a Colt

      Thanks again everyone

Without a doubt, I'm going to buy a 2nd one. I'm leaning towards a Kimber for my next one, and maybe send off my Colt to their custom shop for some work.

I've only had Colts in over 40 years. Maybe nothing wrong with the others
but Colt was where all the others came from.Pete

My first was a Dan Wesson Cbob, second was a Kimber TLE ll, and my third was a SA Professional. I would love to have an old ww2 colt. Not sure if you would shoot equally, I guess it would depend on how good you were with it and how good it ran. Honestly I shoot the Kimber the least out of the three, it's never given me a problem though.

My first was a colt series 80 gi, then a sig cco, the a remington r1 1911, then a rock island tac in 9mm, then a Dan wesson specialist. The colt got stolen and I recently traded the remington so sooner or later I'm going to get another gi style 1911. They are just awesome and I love the way a gi looks

Ive never bought a colt, cant justify paying more for a name brand. Not too fond of the fit on colts either.

But to answer your question, yes ive had GI 1911s and yes I shoot them all equally.

If you can stomach the price, I would highly recommend a Dan Wesson. In my opinion, the DW is the best bang for your buck. I have a few 1911's and my Valor Bobtail is every bit as nice as my Nighthawk and nicer than all the rest. On the other hand, if you like lifelong insurance, Springfield has unbeatable customer service and quality pistols to match! Just my .02. Have fun deciding!

I have a blued Kimber Custom II TLE/RL II.

I'm picking up a stainless Springfield Loaded tomorrow.

I need to have at least one shiny gun...

Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

If nostalgia is what you're after as far as appearance goes, skip the Colt. They're overrated. Get a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec. Old school looks and no series 80 trigger stuff. Just good old Series 70. Cheaper too. Also better out of the box too, in my opinion. I've never been happy with a Colt. My second 1911 was a Colt, my first was a Norinco. My last 1911 purchase was a Valor. I love DW guns. But I'd buy another SA before I spent money on another Colt.

You can never have too many 1911s I have a Sig railed, a Baer PII, and I want another. Maybe a TRP or a WC. Although paying close to $3k for a pistol would make me hesitant to shoot it much

Would you rather you know what with a $200.00 per night hooker or a $3000.00 per night hooker? Think carefully about it.
