Springfield Loaded 1911 VS Glock 21

I own a Springfield 1911A1 Loaded and I love it. But if it was for survival, I would take a Glock. Simply because Glocks are the AK of the pistol world. Abuse it and it will keep going bang. Fail to ever clean it and it will still go bang. My 1911? I like it too much to abuse it or not clean it so I don't know for sure if it would stand up to those kind of conditions as well as Tupperware.

In 45acp, I only like 1911 platform. In any other caliber, I would go with a glock.

1911 without a doubt. glocks are for tacticool shooting classes. If you run out of ammo, with a 1911 you still have a hammer in hand, with a glock, well you can slap the guy and it falls apart. Then you can ask the perp to give your glock a trigger job.

I like both but this isn't a beauty pagent. The glock weighs a lot less and I suspect I'd be carrying it, lighter weight wins!

I use my G21c as a wheel chock for the dually diesel. I shoot the 1911's.

Yeah I don't have a springfield, mine's a colt and I wouldnt own a plastic gun. Plus if you're talking reliability, I still have to rely on the reputation of WWI WWII Korea and Viet Nam just for starters.

I chose 1911.
Although I have a few glocks. The Springfield loaded is a solid gun. A few of my buddies have them and had 0 troubles (fte/ftf) from breaking til now. My milspec has never had a ftf or fte out of the box running the cheap Springfield mags. image.jpg

I don't understand when read 1911's being finicky. I understand this is my own experience, but I own 4 1911's and never had one ftf/fte in any of them since the first one I bought, a SW1911, 6 years ago straight out of the box on all of them.

Now if by shtf you mean I have 5 min to throw everything can into a bag and head to the hills for long period of time and don't have time to bring any oil/grease for, then hands down I'd pick my Glock 21 (actually Glock 30sf in my case since that's what I own).
Don't personally shoot Glocks well but can't go wrong w maintenance on Glock if stuck in some remote place w no oil/grease etc.
But I trust my life with all 4 of my 1911s and that first SW1911 I bought 6 years ago is my bedside gun cocked and locked. Just like my other 3, and yes the other 3 all cost more than my standard SW1911 and would be cionsidered 'higher end' , but all ran flawlessly right out of the box w any JHPs and FMJs have ever put through them. In fact , out of alll the semis I own from 1911's, Glock, HKs, Berettas, CZ, etc,etc, the only 2 handguns that I have ever had jam on me were my Glock 17 and my Beretta 92.

Glock 17 turned out to be a simple mag issue and they replaced the mags as soon as took back to LGS and no more problems but Beretta 92 was a feeding issue that had to be sent back to beretta. Not knocking reliability of Beretta 92 (or Glock) in any way, heck, I bought another Beretta 92 in Inox 6 mos ago, sometimes guns will jam, etc- but never had one experience w any of my 1911's.
So if had time to throw some grease in my bag, or if not since the grease lasts numerous range trips at times, I'd go 1911. If stuck in the sticks somewhere climbing through mud then guess would go w my Glock just cause so quick and easy to take apart if clogged w mud etc, but never have doubted 1911 reliability. Any semi has the ability to jam, but I don't buy into the whole notion that 1911s don't feed JHPs well, qhich I read al the time- seen just as many polymer gun threads about fte/ftfs on here as i have 1911s.

Have more confidence in my 1911s they'll feed and go bang every time than I do of any of my many different handgun platforms I own. Who knows, maybe I just been lucky, but I go w 1911 since I can't get mine to jam even when I try and never had one bit of work done on any of them.
