Colt Python 6"

I'm thinking about investing in a nickle finished Colt Python 6". Very good condition with little wear. What would be a reasonable price for this revolver. I know the price will be higher than other state since I can only purchase ones that are already in CA, so supply is even lower.

Also, any chance Colt would put this revolver back into production due to its popularity?

Can't answer your first question without pics. Condition and areas of wear pretty much dictate price when it comes to Pythons. If it even functions it's worth at least $1500.00 on the market but prices for specimens in excellent condition go well above that.

As for your second question, lots of folks are wondering about that. Colt has one Python model still listed on the CA Handgun Roster but hasn't made it in years. Pythons are desirable largely due to the hand-fitting and old-school craftsmanship they exhibit and it was those same qualities that caused Colt to drop them due to expense. Would Colt make them again? Can they do so and match the original model's quality? Are there any gunsmiths left at Colt who know how?

Recently a CG member offered me $3,000 for mine. It's a virgin 6" (see avatar). But I just couldn't do it. Nickel Python's are becoming really hard to find.

Or you could go with the one on the roster to make it a little easier to find.

Depends on the condition. $2500-$4000+ seems to be the range here. Reasonable is what you are willing to pay to have it.

I met a gentleman yesterday at an FFL that offered to sell to me first his unfired 1964 6" Nickle Python for $4000 when ready. God, I hope he calls me soon.

I don't think Colt will ever bring the Python back with California's stupid laws.

Probably around $2,500 it's all about condition.

Do not look at as a investment . I paid 400.00 $ for mine and 300.000$ to get my four children to adults , Make some side cash and buy it , It might be worth more latter. Last summer a fellow collector showed be a 1960s Python that was Hard chrome , That was a 70s trend , I think it sold for 500$ ,

And what's amped-up the desirability too is that a 6" stainless Python is one of the main stars of TV's "Walking Dead", with it being featured in almost every episode. I am curious why Colt keeps re-upping it on the Roster if they're not going to actually make them.
I own a 6" stainless Python Elite that I bought new around 15 years ago.
