    CZ SP-01 Wow

I like my CZ 75B SA but today someone let me shoot their CZ SP-01 and I really liked it. I didn't know there was that much difference. Felt great with a better trigger. Is that normal? Does this mean I will join the legions looking for a California compliant SP-01?

I would think they would be about the same trigger wise except maybe your SA would have a better stock trigger. Maybe he did work to his? Congrats though. I hear they are hard to come by.

CZ Trigger varies from the factory either pretty good or gritty bad. However after around 700-1000 rounds the trigger smooths out and they all end up pretty much the same "good."

Pretty much sums it up. My last Sp-01 had a great trigger out of the box. The one I own now, is much better now after over 2000 rounds fired. But took awhile to get there.

He probably tuned his if it was close to your SAO.

Assuming that both guns were stock. The only difference with the CZ SAO would be the absence of SA take up. Once the trigger is pressed and trigger bar takes up the sear they should feel about the same.

This dose not take into account variance from the factory or break in.

You probably liked it more due to the felt recoil due to the heavier frame. Plus the grips are different (serrations on frame vs none)

I think you are right about the grips and heavier weight being something I liked. I think he might have had a trigger job. Hmmm...something to think about. Not sure it would be worth changing from my sao cz75B.

If your Sao is stock, mount the CZ custom competition hammer or the Cajun gun works hammer in it and then you'll be amazed.

Is the hammer install difficult to do myself? I.m pretty handy.

are you comfortable in removing the extractor? i've watched several youtube vids.. and everything seems straight forward.. but if the slave pin can't be put through.. then the sear, safety, springs, etc will pop out.

thus far, i have yet to find a close up video on how to put the extractor back together.

so i'm worried about replacing those with the CGW kit..

It's really not that bad. I'm not sure why everyone complains so much about that part. The most difficult part is putting back the FPB lifter spring which doesn't need to be removed in the first place.

I can't see how a stock SP-01 could be much better than an SAO unless it's been modded.

If you have a manual safety version, the sear cage (ejector; the extractor is located on the slide) will pop out with everything intact. Only the decocker versions (and the phantom) need the sear pin removed to take out the sear cage assembly. This can lead to all the springs falling out if you don't have a slave pin in place.

I concur, its seams allot harder than it really is. I was worried until i took a few of them apart. They have proven to be very manageable in the end.
