    S&W 629 FFL Problem... HELP!

So the Gun Range in Sacramento calls me today and tells me that the 629 I have in jail right now can't be DROS'd because there is no "A" engraved into the frame.

I bought the revolver off Gun Broker and apparently the auction is an "As-Is" auction. I called a couple other places to see if they do SSE's for revolvers and one guy told me it's impossible. I'm not sure I beleive him...

Does anyone know of any place in the Sacramento area that does SSE's on revolvers or am I just SOL? I'll keep trying the seller and hopefully he works with me. Either way, seems like I have some work cut out for me. I'm so sad.

Wouldn't it be an Single Action Exemption for revolvers? Try Shooter's Warehouse - I think they do SAE for revolvers

It's not SSE it's SAE "Single Action Exception".

While those Clowns at the Gun Range in Sacramento can't figure out a solution, other FFLs in your area can. Find one and have the 629 mailed over. ($25 bucks)

          Good luck and nice choice!

          Edit. :

          No SAE......:-(

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

I think it needs at least a 3" barrel to be SAE elligible, with an overall length of 7.5 inches. You may be out of luck on this one.

Less than 3" barrel means no SAE. Did you even check the roster? There is a big notation about the A stamp for SKUS that end in A, they even have a photo that clearly shows what you are looking for. This should have been verified with the seller before you bought. This 'A' stamp business is causing a lot of people trouble...

The way I see it, the Gun Range is exactly right, and no phone call to the DOJ or trip to another FFL is going to change things. Let us know how it turns out and good luck...

Does s&w even have any of the a stamped revolvers out? I know that all models for ca are supposed to have it but I have yet to see any in circulation.

I know it's horrible to assume, but that's what I did with this one. I should have known better. I talked to the seller and they've agreed to accept the return and refund my money. Hugh at Omaha Outdoors is a standup guy. Couldn't ask for better service.

Darn that I couldn't DROS it though. It's such a beauty.

Other than in California, Hawaii, and Arizona.

                        Why?

Has nobody found a rifled sleeve setup for 2015 SAE?

Because gun gifts from out of State vertical relatives are exempt from the roster.

For example, my adult daughter who lives in Oklahoma sent me a off roster handgun as a gift.

                            Something to think about..
