+1 for Retting. I've never gotten attitude from them but then again I go there during my lunch break to browse around and they're not terribly busy at that time. They have a great selection of guns to check out. It fires me up when I waste $10 in gas driving to a gun shop only to find they have a selection of 6 guns. Topper was a gun shop in Palm Springs I visited 2 weeks ago and they had a whopping 4 glocks in their display case and a handful of junky looking used guns - how do these places even pay the rent & utilities.

Who do you recommend in Simi? Gretas or Fort Courage?

Gun Runners in Duarte is not too far however I will check out Retting seeing as they are a lot closer to me.

I would prefer to buy something local so I will keep my eye on the for sale board... although any nice magnum revolvers seem to get snaped up in minutes over there.

        Thanks again

I live close to Ammo Bros. nice guys, service can be less than quick there sometimes.

Norwalk Turners, nice guys with good/great prices on some items when on sale.

Went to Rettings for the 1st time a few days ago, great selection and kind of a cool vibe to it. I had heard stories of attitude, but I experienced none and I was dressed pretty sloppy when I went it. I asked to see some higher end stuff, the guys there were polite answered my questions and had no problems letting me handle multiple pieces.

I can agree with other comments on Rettings. When busy it will take a while to get some help, even just for the cash register, but once you have someones attention they will stick with you foresaking all others. Not so much attitude from my experience.

I would not do transfers at Gun Runners, nice shop just to expensive for that....

I go to Enterprise Arms and its about 40 miles away, well worth it! the transfer fee which is 40 and the customer service is Top Notch. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an out of state transfer.. Did i mention their customer service? +1

I was just in Gun World in Burbank and I would beg to differ. I've never seen a So Cal gunstore with a better selection than Gun World.

However, they also have the highest prices I've seen by far.

Everyone there was very nice and helpful though. And PPT was done quickly and easily.

(I like Rettings as well by the way and it's probably my favorite store in the L.A. area).

Union War Surplus in San Pedro has a small gun counter. Never done business with them, but the few times I've been there they had a limited selection of stuff, some of it at pretty good prices.

What part of town is Enterprise in (so I can do a yahoo yellow pages search)?

I bought my two 9mm at Union War Surplus, I live in San Pedro... they guy who used to work the gun counter lived next door to me. Nice guys but small selection and not the lowest prices. Don't think they would do a transfer.

Try Oak Tree gun club in Newhall. I've done two PPTs there in the last couple of weeks. Very nice people and very efficient. I would say their gun prices seem high but my wife has been telling me that I'm living in the 70s as far as what I expect things to cost so maybe their prices are in line!

Looking for a good place to do out of state FFL and not sure if Turners would be the best place to go.

                            Thanks everyone.
Personally, I love Rettings....been going there as far back as I can remember. The guys there are very knowledgeable across a wide variety of firearms, from antiques to current day. If the guy you are working with doesn't have an answer, he will ask one of the other guys who does know.

If however you are looking to do PPT's or out of state FFL transfers, since it's closer and easier, I'd say go to Sharpshooters in Torrance (indoor range). I've never spent more than 20 minutes from start to finish for a PPT, and I recently did an FFL transfer (actually, coming from San Pedro, you are passing them to get to Turners Redondo). They won't do the "questionable" stuff, but if it's a regular firearm, it was a straight $75 including DROS....pretty much par for the course....

If you are trying to bring in something with a "bullet button" or other grey area item, Ammo Bros., Ade's or J&J....

The one thing to note at Oak Tree.....as they are normally busy when they first open on weekends especially....no PPT's in the first hour or last hour they are open. They had a sign out on the counter. Fortunately, having never seen the sign before and arriving just when they opened, I lucked out and got there on an unusually "not busy" weekend morning, so they obliged the transfer....

+1 for Martin B. Rettings. I like the wide range of firearms they carry, from old military surplus to the modern stuff. Parking is great.

Gunrunners is okay, but I do like that they usually have a gunsmith on the premise. Although, parking is kinda bad.

Fowlers in Orange has a great selection of guns as well. I haven't bought anything there yet, so I can't say for their customer service.
