Your favorite gun store in the Los Angeles area?

I am just getting into the gun hobby and pretty much all my experience has been with Big5 and Turners Outdoorsman. The Turners closest to me are Redondo beach and Signal hill.

Those places are okay however maybe you guys know some other shops in the area where I could spend my hard earned dollars.

I am shopping for a revolver and of course we never have enough ammo and then if I buy from a private party I need someplace to do a FFL transfer.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Stay away from Turners Reseda, except for some ammo purchases, which have been decent. They never have anything in stock, their guns are overpriced, and lots of folks have dealt with a lot of attitude there.

      Honestly, none.

But Rettings has the best selection.

Around the South Bay LA area, I use Turners Redondo Beach, Sharpshooters in Torrance, Ammo Bros in Cerritos and Retting in Culver City. All of them have there up sides and down sides.

I like doing business with Ammo Bros the best, but they are the furthest away. Don't try doing a PPT at Retting without clearing it with them first. Turners is fine for basic stuff, but they are slow and charge more. I haven't done much business with Sharpshooters, so I can't really say anything good or bad about them.

I'll check out Martin B Retting and ammo bros.

Looking for a good place to do out of state FFL and not sure if Turners would be the best place to go.

              Thanks everyone.

Since you're new, you might as well check out the new Bass Pro - Outdoor World in Rancho Cucamonga. Give yourself at least a couple of hours.

Also, if you want to make it a full day....check out the new Sportsman's Warehouse in Victorville.

Not quite L.A. but lots to see on both. Well worth the trip IMHO.

Turners won't do out of state FFL, so don't waste your time. I posted a thread on this the other week. Lots of other folks will though, just ask the out of state dealer if they have one they can recommend. I can recommend one in Simi if you're anywhere near there.

I'd skip Turners for that, I believe they raised their prices last year. Give Ammo Bros a call, I believe they do transfers for $75($50 + $25 DROS.) IIRC, Turners is over $100 for the same process.

Retting has an excellent selection and are willing to get whatever you want them to get you, but expect a lot of attitude especially if you are a new customer and you happen to ask them the 'wrong' question. They are somewhat overpriced but are nice to deal with once they know you.

I'll buy locally from Turners, Redding, Gunworld and others if I find a deal otherwise I buy on the internet. www.budsgunshop.com is a great place. Good prices, good selection and the same GE money credit card with the same No payment No interest terms as Turners. I do my transfers with the good people at Gun Runners in Duarte. They are good people and will transfer all firearms including OLL's for a reasonable fee. It's worth the drive.

I haven't tried to do an out of state FFL transfer through Turners but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't.

I have no problem with Turner's at Redondo Beach, but they could get pretty busy at times.
So Cal Sharpshooters in Torrance is also fine, but their price is on the high side and the transfer fee is $5 ~ $10 more than others for out-of-state transfer.

Another vote for Retting. Actually had what I wanted in stock, and $75 cheaper than everywhere else. Customer service was excellent, they were very helpful to answering all my newbie questions.

How much did they charge you for the transfer between Budsgunshop?
