New Springfield Armory XD Mod 2

In all fairness, its fun to poke fun at the name, but it doesn't and shouldn't take away from the pistol. To say its ugly is pretty extreme, I've seen ugly guns (hi points etc) and ugly grips (Punisher, Zombie, messed up Stippling you name it). Even if they removed the Grip Zone words, filled it out, or put grip tape or talon grips on it, Haters will always be haters. Either way I'll have one in 9 days.

Congrats on the purchase. I don't think XDs have ever been marketed as a pretty gun, Springfield has their 1911 for that. I plan on getting a XD9 ported next year so I can shoot V-Shaped flames!

Nice, that makes us one of the few who will have one in CA Big difference from not wanting one to can't getting one, the window is closing. I'm not even the biggest fan of XDM's in terms of aesthetics, but I've come to appreciate them alot in terms of function and value, now I have 3. On that note I will play "Danger Zone" in the background when unbox the Mod 2

I wonder about them updating the classic XD and it dropping off the roster. That would suck for sure!

I really like my XD tactical. Why did I wait so long to get one!

Grip is very comfortable. It's too heavy but feels good in hand

I just brought this gun yesterday... Used my first and last SSE on this gun.
Hopefully it's worth it!

The gun does feel a bit heavy but it's really comfortable once you hold it in ur hands.

i was skeptical about this gun as well, but when i held one at my LGS it completely changed my mind. between the XDS and Shield i prefer the Shield but i would chose the Mod 2 over those 2. i think its the deep under cut trigger guard and rounded grip is what makes it feel so good in the hand. where as the XDS just feels really blocky.

Yup... I agree that the XDS is really bulky compared to the MOD 2.

But By looking at the pics, the Mod 2 does look a little blocky... But it really doesn't seems like it in person.

I can't wait for the 10th day to pick it up and hit the shooting range when I get some free time!

Nice pistol. Though, not a fan of the huge marketing sign of the "grip zone".... like...duh. What else would I do there? LOL

It's just a matter of time before people paint that white. Or stipple it out. Or put grip tape over it...

I own several XD (not xdm, not xd, plain vanilla XD)

1. Do like the fiber front sight.
2. Do like the texture of the grip area.
3. Do not like the slope of the rear sight. I want a sight that I can easily hook onto my belt or heel of my shoe if I need to rack one handed.
4. Grip Zone. Auto Zone. No Parking Zone. Marketing Malarkey.

I love this XD Mod 2. Personally the Grip Zone doesnt bother me..it will be in my palms, and im pretty sure the bad guy receiving lead down range isnt going to think the gun sucks because it says grip zone. I like it alot...made a deposit today. I love the fact that it is just as small as the xds, and can still carry 16+1. ill take this gun all day. Good Job Springfield.
