    Which subcompact for last SSE?

I'm really torn, and I know this will be hard for both bias/open handgun owners like myself. So, considering that I:

    1) am an owner and big fan of Glocks
    2) never owned a Springfield before
    3) also an owner and fan of both Sigs and 1911s

Which pocket pistol should I spend my last SSE on? Mostly for range and HD, perhaps.

Kind of leaning towards the G26 Gen 4 atm, but initially wanted the XD-S (too bad the gear up promo is over, though) thanks!

No one talks about this, but I like the Sig 290RS.

Thanks, I actually considered that too. But unfortunately, had to narrow down my options to the above three

XDs are 90% marketing and editorials in exchange for ad buys. If you're going to get a Springfield, look at a 1911.

I must be blind. I didn't see that poll at first.

I kind of feel ya on that. I'm good on 1911s though, just in the market for a subcompact for my last SSE. Thanks

Sig P938 is a nice little pocket 9mm. Has some 1911 characteristics, but with some modern changes. You can also buy the 22 conversion kit to go with it.

While I agree Springfield is more style than substance, I recently shot a full-size XD for the first time, and I'll be damned if it wasn't incredibly accurate. I'm not a very experienced shooter and I was getting 2-inch groups with the target back as far as it went.

That's about all that impressed me about it, but it was pretty cool that it performed so well.

I would say it depends on the caliber you're going to choose. The XDS comes in .45 and hardly anything else does at that size. Sounds like you don't have a CCW, so I would get the 4" .45. It has numerous advantages over the 3.3" and you don't need it to be so small if it's not going in your pocket.

However I would pass on the XDS if you're set on 9mm. There are plenty of other options, including the cheaper and on-roster Shield, which I believe is a better weapon.

My vote is for the P938. I like the night sights, the sturdy build, and the way it feels in the hand. Even though it's tiny, I still like it for home defense. It's nice to know I can easily grab it in its holster and put it in my pocket when walking around the house.

All great pistols. First off, the Glock 26 is not a pocket pistol...it's a subcompact..too big, wide, and heavy for pocket carry so I would discount that one right off the bat as you indicate that you are looking for a "pocket pistol". The XDS 3.3 is an excellent pistol also and slimmer than the G26 as its a single stack, but still heavy (23 oz with empty mag - 1 oz heavier than the G26) and still a bit long in the barrel for pocket carry - If you're a big guy with loose pants you might be able to pull it off. The SIG 938 is the only real choice for a "pocket pistol" from your list. It's narrow with a single stack mag, shorter with a 3" barrel but is still a tad heavy at 16 oz without a mag (SIG Specs). If this is a CCW gun, then you'll need to consider that it's a hammer fired, SAO pistol and will need to practice with it. If you're familiar with running a 1911 cocked and locked then no problem. If not, you need to develop the automatic reflex skill to always disengage the safety on your way to pulling the trigger - otherwise under stress you go straight for the trigger and nothing happens when you pull it. This action is a bit more complicated when compared to the simple, striker fired G26 and XDS where you just pull the trigger - no safety to worry about. BTW, there are some other good striker fire pocket pistol options to consider such as the Kahr CM9/ PM9 & Ruger LC9s..these are also slightly lighter than the 938. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback @Tovarish and @jimsguns. Appreciate it! Yes, this is not for CCW as I somewhat mentioned.

The sights, rail, and the smaller width were big plus'es for me in the first place on the XD-S.

                      Super torn...

How about a Shield, no safety version?

If you're not carrying in the pocket I would definitely recommend the XDS 3.3. It is amazingly accurate, has GREAT sights, good trigger, easy to shoot and will save you some $ on the price of the 938.

Forgot to mention. It's not on your list but I love the idea of a Boberg for a subcompact SSE. You'd probably be the only person to have one at whatever range you use.

Ok, thanks. Yeah, it's a super close on between the G26 and XDS atm.

Not a big fan of these either, and it's a bit out of my price range too
