    Poll: Which revolver?

Okay, I looked around a bit and couldn't find too much (my CG-fu kinda sucks).

I'm considering a wheel gun since I don't have one (well, except for a ruger .22).

    I want blued not stainless.

I a bit old and like the "Dirty Harry" look, but I'm gonna go with .357 mag/.38 special because ammo is less expensive.

    So what say you CG'ers?

If you choose other, please list which one and why.

    Thanks!

    Edit:
    Forgot for mention:
I prefer a new gun, not a used one.
Must be on the stupid roster.

S&W model 19 is supposed to be the all around best 357 revolver they made. I read that somewhere anyways. It is more expensive then the model 27 though. I do like the old 586's also though. Are you getting a new revolver or an older one?

If your going to get a smith I recommend getting an older used good condition pinned barrel pre lock.

I was planning on getting a new one. Does the model 19 come in blue, and is it one roster?

While I'm sure that there are lots of good used ones out there, I really prefer to buy a new one. I'm kinda weird that way. I want to be the one to first shoot it (save for the test fire at the factory.)

The Model 27 and 586 are both fine revolvers and both will stand up to full house .357 loads without problems. Chose the one that is most comfortable in your hands. There isn't a 'which is best' choice where these two revolvers are concerned.

I looked on the smith website and it doesn't look like they make the model 19 in a smith and wesson classic. In your case I'd get the model 27 as it doesn't have the full lug barrel. On a longer 6" plus barrel that's extra weight you're gonna feel. Plus the model 27 has that nice classic look.

I definitely plan on shooting both. If I can find someone who has one or both, or I'll rent at a local range.

Are they really that different in the feel?

I do like the classic look, Dirty Harry fan and all, but I don't think the weight would be much of an issue. It's really just gonna be for range fun.

If you're looking for something used, keep an eye out for a Colt Trooper. Nice old-school option to the 19 or 586

                        The only revolvers I like are the tiny airweight S&W J-frames. I suggest a M&P 340.

Cry once. But I really think this is a great wheel gun...

Donuts have too much sugar. Coffee...well look for the thread somebody started "why does coffee make me poop!"

Pizza is good, but only if it has bacon on it. So that makes it a secondary food item.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I prefer a new one.

I vote for 586 4" as the 6" with full lug can be front heavy. Just thought I would say in case you haven't really tried shooting one.
