Im going to go out on a limb and put this out there.

The ivory grips on Saigon1965 stand out because of the plain black look of the revolver.

OP for your ruger I would go with a set of really dark grips (maybe even ebony), to contrast and emphasize the beautiful engraving on your pistol. (maybe some nice inlay on the grips that will match the engravings if you want really fancy grips)

              Thank you Gentlemen -

              It's a M&P - Pre-10 circa 1945-1948 -

The stocks were purchase from a Vietnam vet's estate - So I don't know where they came from - There are no inscriptions on the back side -

Dang Saigon1965 - your guns' grips are gorgeous!

I've always liked the look of ivory (especially when contrasted with a blued firearm), but acknowledge that killing elephants to get it is wrong, to me. I have some faux-ivory grips for my 1911 and smith revolver.

American Holly wood is beautiful and yellows just like ivory. You should contact Calguns member Cary at CLC Custom Grips, all he does is Ruger and he is a craftsman delux. Take a look at his web site and check out his work in all kinds of wood and a big selection of stabilized wood grips that are outstanding.
Here are some American Holly on a New Vaq I had custom built years back, Cary made these grips:

If it was a shooter then maybe not, but for a purdy gal like that she needs a fancy dress!

I love the look of ivory on a fine blued revolver. It is also nice that they won't go down in value.

You can also go with a just as expensive set of Keith brown grips

A little less expensive is sheep horn

I am not surprised, his stuff is beautiful. Nice guy to deal with also, and since you buy the actual grip set you see on his site they get to you quickly. Please post your gun again when it has the new grips on, it is really impressive.
