                Metal.
The Sig 226 is not carried by the Texas Rangers. It is the standard issue sidearm of the Texas DPS (state troopers). Or it was. Now it is the M&P 9. Cheaper ammo, way cheaper gun and arguably just as functional.

Texas Rangers all carry 1911's. Nothing against other types of guns, but its part of the image. Leather holster, 'western style professional attire', well groomed...etc. And a 1911. With that said, I know some of the troopers were bummed cuz they loved their 226s.

I know this because a year ago I was applying to TX DPS (along with a few other agencies) and I met a bunch of them while I was doing ride alongs, just hanging out in the station and during my application process.

Bud's does not ship off roster pistols to CA. They let you place the order, though. Ask me how I know. 😀

Osage County Guns will, and they have stainless 226 models in stock (frame made in Germany). Hello December.

gen4 glocks will eventually be sold in California as police trade ins so I dont know how much investment there is. Be careful looking out purely for investment as great minds will find ways to get new guns or break the roster. Buy what you want, knowing that what you want may not be available for a bit

Sig P226 but consider P229. Softer than his big brother.

                              Sig all the way.

I carried the P226 as well as the P228 while I was in the Navy and still carry a P228 on a daily basis after I retired. Not the M11-A1 version. Mine was actually made in Germany but I hear the M11A1 is just as good.

                              Here is mine.
