Thank you for the explanation and time spent. I really appreciate it.

True, but if the safety plunger wasn't working and you dropped the gun on the ground, isn't it still possible with enough g-force to pierce the primer? I realize this is an extremely rare case.

One way to find out is through experimentation without the plunger.

How many thousands of Police officers all over the world carry GLOCKS every day? They don't need gimmick devices and neither do you.

^^ this is a good reason based on practicall use. But, it is hard to convince people agaist the alure of gadgetry.
That said, anyone incapable of carring a glock safely should not handle firearms or even be around guns.

You're right, driving your car remains one of the most dangerous parts of your day...

Everyone seems to accept the MULTITUDE of safety features on vehicles as good common sense, though.

air bags, ABS, traction control, etc, etc. All proof that we do not have anywhere near 100% control over our vehicles or the environment they exist in.

However guys, let me be clear. This is just interesting conversation for me. I'm not trolling for a fight and I'm certainly not trying to bash the amazing firearm that is a Glock. I simply see an incomplete firearm when it does not have some type of active safety buffer a la 1911, XD, Kahr(heavier DA), Sig(heavier DA first shot/manual safety), Hi-power, CZ-75, etc. Just a different perspective. Hopefully you find my disagreement respectful and non-threatening.

And to the OP's original post, I'd say yes, those products seem to have potential to increase your margin of safety.

I don't THINK it would. At least not from a typical carrying height.

I'll post up a video on youtube next week testing it.

I agree, I think the drop safety design of the Glock is pretty robust. Even with an above average height and a super soft primer it'd be hard to imagine it'd fire. Still I love seeing real world testing. I'd watch the vid.

There is no epidemic of Glock ADs and it is very widely used by LEO.

                        So it's a non issue.

I have a pound or less trigger pull on that and never had any AD's on it.
My Glocks for competition all have trigger jobs and no ad's at all!

As I stated- trigger finger away from trigger is the key!
Yes, that advice was for someone who is new/afraid of carrying glocks.

Imo glocks promote responsible firearms handling because you learn to keep your booger hook off the bang switch. It is very very very simple. Manual safeties can mask sloppy handling habits, and some new glock owners might have a ND after years of bad habits gained from their da/sa... because their brain is conditioned to have various idiot-proofs protecting them.

People should use whatever they like, and whatever they are most comfortable with.

The safest way to carry a gun is finger off the trigger. If you are not handling it, put it in a proper holster. As long as you carry a gun in these methods, you statistically will never have a negligent discharge.

edit: seriously...for all intents and purposes: you have to pull the trigger for the gun to fire. It will not fire any other way. This was the scariest thing for me to accept when carrying any loaded firearm. IF it helps, remember that the other 3 rules are there as "safe guards" incase **** does still go wrong. You negligent discharge by accident? tsk tsk, but at least you remembered to keep it in a SAFE DIRECTION. no harm, not too much foul.

I see what you're saying, but I like my Glock and I do have a safe way to carry it.

It's laughable to see other people should impose upon how I or other people should carry a Glock.

Now, I thought we were all on the "shall not be infringed" team?

I will carry my Glock the way I feel I should according to my level of confidence at any given time, and as a new CCW holder I will expect that level of confidence to grow over time, with discipline and with practice.

If I want to use a Safety Block, a Siderlock, an empty chamber, a NY Trigger, a clip draw, a micro holster ... that is my free choice...

All you guys that say to me "You should not have Saf-T-Blok" I say to all of you: "Come and Take it"

well, if, if and when you do get a carry permit, then report back. Until then, it's just imagination.
