Canik TP9 SA

Picking up mine on the 28th if the FFL is open.
The gun felt very ergonomic and not uncomfortable, the trigger pull was very good while dry firing with very little creep and the gun felt nice and light and balanced.
My two initial complaints are the decocker but it makes it easy to dissemble without pulling the trigger like with a Glock, the trigger felt a little cheap and big, and I'll want to put night sights on the gun because they have sights similar to a Glock with an extra marking on the rear sight. Fortunately I read it uses PPQ sights so I'll be ordering some Meprolight ones in the future.Comment

And hence another problem....How are we to get additional mags? I realize that some FFL's will get you mags and block them for you but that is...not ideal.
If it used M9 mags, it would have been a perfect solution to get low cost mags for our SSE pistol.
Now, as it stands, we will have to go through hoops and additional costs just to get the mags now.
I can't help but wonder WHY the Canik rep would make the claims then it not be true? Was it supposed to use M9 mags and someone screwed up? Will there be a 2.0 version that does take Beretta mags.
But you're right, the mag catch is not in the correct location and it probably wouldn't be that hard to tap a new mag catch. But why the disconnect from what the rep said to what is reality?Comment

Just DROSed mine today but probably won't make it to the range till mid December.
I'm concerned about the magazine situation as well. I still have no idea how I will get extra mags. Costed me $500 after everything said and done, bought from preppergunshop.com and transferred to OC firearms for sse which was another $150.Comment

It sounds like the mags are the same as the old ones, just with a different base plate. Probably just a standard MecGar baseplate. I bet they will sell for $25-$30 like the TP9 mags. There are a few places that block mags for CA and are friendly enough to take requests.
Since they should be real similar to the PPQ M2 mags, it might be easy to make the ten round M2 mags work here. If it is as good as they say, it is worth a little mag hunting and experimenting for $330.
I wish I could get one of these. No more budget or time left though.Last edited by crufflers; 11-21-2014, 2:10 AM.Comment

Yeah, I'm hoping in the long run they make 10 rounders for other restrictive states. I'm sure oc firearms will block them for me if comes to it.Comment

That and scootch's review are both what lead me into purchasing the TP9 SA. I just like to hear about other's experience too. Nothing like a good review to give positive reinforcement to a gun purchase haha.Comment
