    AOW and SSE

Does the new SSE affect AOWs? So we could still get something like this after the new year using SSE1?

    Sorry if in wrong forum?

Did you try unplugging it and then plugging it back in?

I just picked up my AR pistol on Saturday and from my understanding, you will not be able to get AR pistols via a retail store (excluding police lower DROS or PPT) after SSE is eliminated. Firstly, an AR pistol considered a "handgun" and therefore it needs to be on the roster which was what the SSE got around. Secondly, they are sold as complete handguns only so you cannot buy just the lower.

You will still be able to get AR-15 style pistols after the first of the year. They will be using SSE 2.0 come January 1st.
        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

As to the OP's question I think it can be done but will have to be done differently than it is now.

That's not an AOW. That's an XO-26. The whole purpose behind it is that it is an AR pistol that the ATF says is not a pistol so it can have a forward vertical brace without needing NFA paperwork. As far as CA and the CA DOJ are concerned, that's just a regular old pistol and would need to be SSE'd.

No, I already tried pulling the cartridge out and blowing on it, but it did not work.

I have the exact same question. I mean ATF clearly says adding a vertical grip to any pistol requires an AOW, I'm guessing just banning SSEs as they are now just means that and has no effect on Federal ATF requirements.

There is another way. Intrafamilia xfer through dealers. I've never done it but am told its legal and can be done after the first of the year.

I didn't either then, I thought only AOW could have VFG but a pistol could have at least an AFG.

I will seriously be happy to be wrong

                            Under Federal laws/regulations...
Title 1 Handgun can legally have an angled forward grip and/or horizontal forward grip attached to it.
Title 1 Handgun can not legally have a vertical forward grip attached to it.

Title 1 Other can legally have an angled forward grip, horizontal forward grip, and/or vertical forward grip attached to it.

Title 2 AOW can legally have an angled forward grip, horizontal forward grip, and/or vertical forward grip attached to it.

                            Under CA laws/regulations...
A firearm with a less than 16" barrel is a "handgun".

                            Therefore...
A firearm with a less than 16" rifled barrel & greater than 26" overall length & no shoulder stock is legally classified as a "handgun" under CA laws and a Title 1 Other under Federal laws. Since, it is a Title 1 Other it can legally have a vertical forward grip attached to it.

To illustrate what Quiet has written, this is my Title 1 Other. Not an AOW.
