Think about this, even though they are different guns, the BHP is the 1911 mechanical design update (just compare the field stripping process on each) with European finishing and excellent ergos. Love both the 1911 and the BHP but worldwide the BHP has been the combat pistol of excellence for decades.

I have always found Browning Hi-powers wonderful to shoot. Triggers can very quite a bit(as most out of the box handguns). As far as the trigger being mushy, i prefer them to any stock Glock. The modern one I have, has a really nice trigger. If you compare it to a tuned 1911, it is lacking. If you compare it to an average 1911, it is pretty good. The ergonomics work well for me. Many with smaller hands that think a doublestack auto is too big, find the BHP to be comfortable. If you are in the OC area, your are welcome to try mine. There are some Calguns shoots at Fieldtime in Stanton, and Insight Shooting Range Artesia that I sometimes go to.

          Healthy debate only please.

It depends on whether you want to have a collection of guns or do you primarily only care to have guns you'll shoot often. The price of the BHP dissuades me from buying it. The ones I've shot aren't really that impressive especially considering the cost. I'd prefer the CZ over it. But if I want a collection of iconic guns then I'd probably buy one and a Beretta M9 as well.

Have both CZ P01 and BHP. The P01 is my defensive pistola, even with the kind of creepy stock trigger. Extremely reliable with properly sized ammo, and a damned tack-driver. Almost as ergonomic as the BHP.

The BHP eats anything, even reloads with improper sizing. I suspect that it's the heavier slide and recoil spring giving more loading force. Trigger on mine is very nice if the mag disconnect is removed. Ergonomics......oh, baby. Melts into my hand. Plus, there's a certain aesthetic appeal, a deadly elegance to the design that moves me.

All isn't paradise though. I get more muzzle flip from the BHP than the CZ (or other 9mms), the slick surface of the frame in the grip area makes for a gun that squirms a bit in the hand during recoil. Skateboard tape makes it a bit better.

Bottom line is, I'll NEVER be without a BHP, but it won't be my first choice for serious use.

Here is a classic FN Hi Power with his FEG Hungarian cousin. Love them both.

Question - I have an FEG with the rounded hammer - does the regular spur give less hammer bite or more?

No, its the other way around the ring hammer was designed to bite less than the regular spur.

Other that having one I haven't seen what a BHP does any better than a plastic pistol for around half the price.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

Excellent ergonomics, great history, reliable, good looking. It is my favorite 9mm handgun.
