    Targetmasters screws up.

I bought a new 9mm at Targetmasters in a PPT 11 days ago and when I picked it up, I went through the 30 minutes of forms and finally left. I went home and the girl that worked there called me at home and told me to come back down as I had not signed the safe affadavid. I reminded her that I live 50 miles away and that is not happening. Just email it to me and I will sign and mail back. She finally agreed to mail me a copy with a return envelope to send back. I could have sworn I did it when I paid for it initially. What a pain.....

    9mm rifle?

otherwise, the Safe Affidavit isn't usually acceptable on pistol purchases. Federal law requires that a handgun lock be provided on the transfer, and your safe at home does not satisfy that law.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

at least that one was a signature. I went there for a ppt pickup beginning of july. An hour later, I leave. About 30 minutes later, I get a call saying that one of t he forms was missing an initial and they wanted me to go back to initial it. I don't understand why Targetmasters is in business. I think the only reason is that they are open long hours and on holidays while every other store is closed (the hours was the reason why my ppt INSISTED on meeting at targetmasters and not anywhere else).

How can they mess that up? They take a solid hour of checking and double checking and then triple checking! Lol. It's a useless form anyways.

I bought a 686 there. They called me after my pickup And said "can you open up the cylinder and read me the serial number on it" I was at work so... No, I can't take a revolver out of my trunk and then handle it. So after work I did it for them.

I've signed safe affadavits for handguns. Funny thing is they all came with crappy cable locks. Get this, my $2k Sti came with what looked like a 20 cent padlock from a bubble gum machine.

I did a ppt at tm ... Two HOURS and five employees later, I sign the paperwork.
          2 fricken hours.

Not sure I would have created a post about this listing their name.. it's not like they gave you the wrong gun or something, and it's fixable with a postage stamp.

Why not? He stated that they agreed to mail the form and include prepaid postage.

Bottom line is that TM is horrible at completing the required forms for firearms purchases and PPT's. Not only do they often make mistakes, but they take longer to complete the sale or PPT than probably any other gun store in CA.

Even a change of ownership did not change this issue. Not to mention the amount of FUD that comes from that places employees.

              Let it be known.

The seller in the PPT was a long way off and they were the only place that could accommodate the hours we needed and was a good half way point. I was surprised on the safe affidavit for a handgun. The letter has not appeared yet and I am thinking it won't because someone besides the girl that called knew it was not needed. Gun had a lock in the box it came in.

from what I thought if it was ppt'd a purchase receipt of a lock within 30 days or safe affidavit was needed.

The OP said it was new and it came with a lock

                      No affidavit needed

Then later it is a PPT

                      I am so confused
"While it may come as a surprise to the authors of the legislation, most semi-automatic pistols do in fact come with a pistol grip"
Malthusianism is the idea that population growth is potentially exponential while the growth of the food supply is arithmetical at best.

It was a PPT of a gun that the guy never fired. NIB with all locks and manuals and such. Sorry for any confusion.

Yes that's the norm with Target Masters. 90 minutes worth of extra BS paperwork that they require. Not the state or the Feds, but their requirement. I refuse to ever make a purchase from that bunch of losers. I did a 90 minute PPT there once. Only once. They are horrible. I don't care what they say about the volume they do. So many people know how bad they are and avoid them that I can't believe they're still in business.

Target Masters is a joke including their employes. They had me waiting almost 2 hours trying to ppt a handgun then another hour signing papers. They will never ever get my business. They did have a good handgun selection but rather save time and a great headache.

These forms are not brain surgery, if you think store is not doing them right, just check them yourself and you will not have any problems. DIY seem to be a lost art.
