In terms of what pistols to SSE, I'd look into some of these maybe:

    Mk25
    Any Sig scorpion series
    SA Range Officer
    Standard off-listed M&Ps and Ruger semi-autos
    Gen4s of all flavors

Yes, I'm thinking for personal ownership but also having liquid assets to sell if the need arose.
I am probably going to pick up an M11-1a/p228 or a Range Officer as my last SSE. My budget just couldn't permit me to buy a TRP. I have enough Glocks and HK lol.

Yeah I'm not interested in selling but I want to SSE some guns I don't want just in case. Got it.

^ I think you are misunderstanding what some of us are looking at....maybe we don't have a complete or vast collection, aren't involved in comps but might want to in the future, might have a family member who will want a different caliber in the future, etc. I can say that I'm trying to figure out what MIGHT be something I'm after in the future by getting it while I can. It is a ridiculous scenario due to CA.

Actually I'm completely cheating here, just moved out of SoCal two months ago to Utah. Just thinking like I would have if I was still behind enemy lines. I wouldn't have enough money to stock up on "assets" to potentially sell, but we all know some will. Details of the move here:

TomT, I was thinking of an SP-01 since I shoot my buddy's and liked it a while ago. Bummer about their QC.
Polymer feels weird but a striker system seems like a good choice for a consistent trigger pull. I PPT'd an M&P and will try the Apex stuff once it comes back from repair.
Just hard to guess what might float my boat a year or three from now.

I was kinda surprised the rails were not unilaterally cut so the hammer would rest a little to the right. It didn't have any problems with function but it bothered the heck out of me since I have OCD.

I would say you can't go wrong with an M&P9 CORE, loved shooting my buddy's normal M&P9 with an Apex.

Rugerkp shares my thinking. I might reload next year so maybe a 10mm would make sense. Might get into comps, in which case a CORE makes sense. Or I might see a TRP Operator or HK 45 & which I'd picked one up while I could.

Three I've been wanting are a railed Colt, HK 45c, and maybe a P30L. I'd like a non -CA MK25 but there are enough regular p226's floating around that I could do without. Maybe.

why buy guns you don't want?

just because they are ( maybe) not going to be obtainable? is that a reason to buy a gun?

I don't think anybody in this thread is doing that or advocating it. A lot of people realize there may be guns they'd like to have that if they don't do it now their chances are pretty slim they could do it after the sse curtain.

I share that feeling and if I had the spare cash would dros something every month 'till it was over. Keep 'em in the collection or sell them off if I needed cash. Nothing is going to go DOWN in value after you can't buy them anymore in CA.

What do you enjoy shooting? Half the fun of buying is researching what is the next prize!!!

Im concentrating on things I like...Stiker fired pistols like VP9 and 1911's like the DW Specialist i just jailed....AGAIN! I have a slot open if i can squeeze it in and may get a CZ or P226. Variety is the spice of life!!!

If you don't have a 1911 in 9mm, I'd get one of those.
