debating between a colt and dw heritage also. yes, the heritage is "nicer", but the colt also balances and "feels" good in my hands vs most other 1911. have also read and heard that recent production colts are amongst if not the best they've made. lastly, it seems like most 1911 fans end up with a colt in the collection sooner or later anyways.

Don't be a wimp.
Find a mid 80's AMT 7" longslide 1911 chambered in .30 Carbine like I did...

It depends on your POV. I got the classic Colt Gold Cup and a Rock Island GI Full Size already.
If I had $1550 I would get that Colt WWII reproduction a Calgunner is selling. Something to show off and shoot occasionally because the Gold Cup and the Rock already have a lot of holster wear. JMHO

SA TRP full or light rail. Have a Les Baer UTC, Colt Rail Gun and a SA TRP. The TRP is the best IMO and keeps getting better. Superb 1911 for a very reasonable price considering all the features included.Comment

wow the colt fanboys are running deep in this thread. what do a 5 year old girl and a grown man have in common. they go crazy over a pony. blah. i would get a Springfield if i were u and that from my experience shooting both. Example a colt 1991 and a springer 1911 mil spec side by side u will be able to tell a major difference in the trigger and the fit and finish. colt fan boys don't hate.Comment

I dunno. I have an XSE and the trigger is great at 4lbs. It breaks nice and clean although it took about 300 rounds to get there. However the springfield loaded I owned had a terrible trigger. That's just how it goes with production guns, some coke out a little nicer then others.
As much as I like my XSE, I would get a Heritage if $1200 was my price range. It will be a lot nicer then the Colt or Springfield IMHO.Originally posted by barrageThat's because Excelsior threads are like toilet bowls. They're made for crapping in and occasionally pissing on the side of.Comment
