    Clean your gun when you carry it? Wipe it down with some oil? My shield never did that and I carried it IWB in the Mojave desert for two years...

        I carried mine iwb for a 12 mile hike. When I field strip mine to clean it, it's just filled with lint.

            My shield rusts at the mag release from normal use. I've made a point of keeping a drop of lube in there to mitigate it. Because of this rusting issue, I've transitioned to my XDs as my primary.

                The mag release does look like a polymer but it is not, I have completely remove the mag release and coat it with a light coat of teflon grease
