Fortunately youre not toting around a rifle. Then youd have to get creative with a way to carry it around without giving yourself off.

So, in the event you have to use your gun in a home defense scenario in SF, I wonder what can of worms you'd have to deal with?

Lived here my whole life, I can tell you that the city is flooded with zombie hoards of the most self entitled homeless, drug addicts, prostitutes, pimps and nomad thugs from the rest of the bay wandering the streets mugging and breaking into cars. We also have police that don't want to be bothered dealing with any crime other than a gun call (even when I had one stolen from my car it took them 20 min to respond) you could clock their response time with a sun dial. We are also blessed with a DA's office that won't prosecute habitual lifetime criminals, but throw the book at every day citizens for minor BS infractions, all the while taxing us into the ground. All the more reason for us to be permitted to CCW, but that won't happen even if Peruta stands. I just wish I could save enough to get outta here, but its so expensive just covering monthly expenses is hard enough.
        Just my 2 cents!

There is no ban but most businesses choose not to send here anymore. There is a restriction on purchasing over 500 rounds at a time, such a purchase needs a copy of your driver's license (I think also a finger print if I remember correctly) and the seller is required to notify the police department.

When I buy bulk it is usually a the gun show now and I just do the DL copy and finger print right there, takes 2 minutes. The big ammo companies that go to Crossroads are all set up for it.

Being in the gun owner in S.F. Is ironically like being in the closet . Sheesh!
Duplicating performance means it must be IDENTICAL is its velocity, expansion ect. The new SD HP rounds are much better in performance so it doesn't matter.

Black Talon is 147 grain rated at 990fps, so is 147gr Ranger-T and 147gr HST. Obviously, all of the premium SD rounds perform the same "enough" to be "BAD bullets" in the eyes of our know it all agencies, they all have "sharp protruding edges that are designed to be evil and cause maximum carnage" to the helpless home invader or mugger hit with them.
But that aside Federal "Law Enforcement" ammunition is also listed on the revised ordinance. All of my HST was labeled "law enforcement", before I got rid of it of course.
I actually called my local supervisor several times before the vote to explain the problem with voting yes on the ordinance as it was written could be used to criminalize all hollow points. I was only able to speak with one of his minions, who assured me that it was only meant for black talons...and after it passed "Federal Law Enforcement" ammunition aka. HST was added too!

I loved growing up in SF in the 1960s. By the time I was 12, I'd take muni downtown to Market street to meet a pal and watch a movie. "I'll be home for dinner Mom!" Most of what I loved so much about the city is gone. Playland, Sutro Baths, Blums, Emporium roof rides, the Niners playing at Kezar, etc. Oh well, times change. SF has become a city for the rich now.

Still incredibly beautiful. Every now and then, I'll take walks out through the Presidio and Land's End, reminiscing about the good old days.

I guess having guns in SF is not much different than any other parts of the Bay Area. Good luck.

It's sort of like wearing this:

Before there was Polymer there was Accuracy.

Have ammo shipped to someone outside of the city, cause most places won't ship there. Unless you got adult sized mags, I don't see too many other issues.

The food (yes, it really is better here), the weather, the music, the theatre, the scenery, just to start.

Owning a handgun in SF is not really any different than elsewhere in the Bay Area.

The "dangerous ammo" ban is poorly worded and vague, and no one has been arrested for it, to my knowledge. The "high cap" ban is still being fought by the NRA, to my knowledge, but no ine has been arrested fir it that I know either.

Just mind your p's and q's, especially about transport, since there are school zones everywhere. Oh, and never leave ANYTHING in your car. Smash and grabs are common everywhere.

You are probably seen as more of a threat if you own a handgun then if you had full blown HIV and were seen donating blood.
