it's not listed in the SCSW, either. but I found a clue. model 19's are slightly beefier (no dimension given) in the yoke area, so frames forged that way probably were kept separate from service model "K" frames. and marked with the model # and dash # as soon as the yoke area was finished machined. in this scenario, the dash 3 only refers to a production era.
another anomaly I just realized is the serial- a Model 19 of that era would have a "K" in it. so I wonder if the usage of the "K" was partly for keeping track of costs- extra machining and sight parts.
fitting such an oddity would under a contract to the French.MAGAComment

He's a pretty nice guy.
What's really cool is that he showers at 8PM each night, you can set your watch by it.
Yeah, I suspected the "French Connection".
I know you!
(And not from the shower, either!)

Sai, you find the coolest stuff; another Smith variation I've never heard of that has a cool history.
Thanks for sharing.People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.
