Thinking about this some more, if you put a tec-9 upper on a registered ab-10 receiver. Is that a bad thing due to the threaded barrel issue?

Gun Broker has them all the time. Tough to find someone that will ship to CA though.
SKSparts.com has upper receiver tubes, bolts, and all of the other sundry items that one might need for one of these things. If you do get one of these make sure you get extra firing pins. None of mine lasted any more that 500-rds before they broke. Strikers are another part that frequently fails on these critters. Always, always use FMJ ammo and nothing else and it will run fairly well with few failures or malfunctions (at least until some of the other parts start breaking). Polishing the feed ramp with 3000-grit emery cloth works wonders for the reported feeding problems that some folks experience. Expect to get abot 2500-rds of use out of the gun before a major overhaul is required.
If anyone out there is interested in a well used AB-10 upper, shoot me a PM.

YES i own one it was grandfathered in 1997 and im not proud of it.
Havent shot it its beat to hell and the rebuild parts are ridiculously priced.
Im going to eventually drive to reno and put it on consignment.
And the paperwork from the DOJ was horrible.
Its not an assault weapon its my peace keeper.Comment

I have an AB10 and it is a POS. I got it for dirt cheap along time ago, and it definitely is quite a conversation piece.

IS your mag pinned? Do you have a 10 round mag? Wanna sell?Comment
-
Yep 100% sure of it, have to use a pinned mag BUT unlike tec9 variants, you can just use a ruger 10/22 rotary magazine in it so it is cheap to do.Are you sure? I assume you mean with a pinned mag or such also, in unaltered state, is illegal I believe. These guns were sucky as well.
I'm kind of bummed I didn't pick up a couple of Tec 9's of some sort for fun. Keeping it clean and with quality fmj ammo I'm thinking it may have been ok.Comment

Is there such a thing as an Uzi mini cloneComment
-
Yes. Vector used to make the UZI Mini, but it has a second place to grip outside the pistol grip, so you would have to run it with a fixed magazine. The UZI Micro style (pictured earlier) doesn't have a second hand grip, so it'd be completely legal to get as a pistol (LE exemption, PPT, etc.)Comment
