    Inter Tec Ab 10

Is it possible to bring one of these into CA? I know crap gun, I am kicking myself for not buying a tec9 when it was still legal. Can one be brought in as a receiver only?

Is is possible to buy a tec 9 in state if you can find someone who is selling one?

As with everything else, if it's not a listed AW, you need to make sure it doesn't have any SB23 features, then use one of the handgun roster exemptions to bring it into CA.

Ab 10 is not listed. If you bring it in yourself or via LEO or PPT you can easily modify the magazine catch (by just cutting it off) and stick a 10 round mag in it and you should be good to go.

They can be made to work, but it takes quite a bit of fiddeling.

I've seen a few which had Sten MKII trunions/barrels adapted to fit which were much more reliable.

its definitly its own kinda thing

I know they are crap. I wish I would have bought one when they were legal. I just replaced my Colt Sporter I HAD.

Ok if I bring in the receiver and don't assemble, does anyone see any problems? Oh wait it can't be brought in because its not on the DOJ approved list, thats why someone mention LE.

If someone in CA has a tec 9 can they sell it in state?

Oh I forgot to mention I really hate CA.

There are only two conditions in which someone in CA would have a Tec-9:

              1.) Registered, legal, AW
              2.) Unregistered, felony, AW

NEITHER can be legally transferred to you in CA.

Both could be transferred out of state. The owner of condition two is still a felon though

IIRc there were a few different itterations of the Tec9 that were never banned, the DC9 and the AB10

The DC9 has all the nasty features that we miss (but with a pinned mag is totally legal)

the AB10 was the 'after ban' post 94 production pistol which didn't have any of the neat features, but still needs to have a pinned 10 round mag.

It is VERY likely that an FFL/member on here will be soon offering a custom importing service where he can bring in absolutly anything (not banned by name) and arange for it to be PPT'd to you.

It will probably be expensive and you'll probably have to pay in full up front.

But you can get this stuff.

Oh and there was a version of the intratec tec22 called the skorpion which was never banned if you want one of those too

                  AZ sounds better and better

Could an AB-10 recevier be brought in without having it made single shot?

No, if you are not law enforcement all pistols have to be fully assembled to be sold through dealer inventory.

Stripped receivers are not available to us regular people...

But like I said, there soon may be a system whereby you can be PPT'd a stripped receiver for just about anything you want.

If you can find a legal way to PTT, I would happily sell you mine. I had to register it as an AW back in 2000.

to legally PPT it you have to cut the magazine release (or fabricate some other type of mag lock) and put a 10 round magazine in it.

Then you have to un-register the pistol as an AW with the state, at which point you can legally transfer it via PPT

Is yours the TEC-9 or the TEC-DC9? If it's the TEC-9, it's banned by name and will always be an AW in this state. If it's the DC9, you could go through the mag-pinning process the unregister it.

Yup, I had a DC9 back in the mid 90s. What a complete piece of junk! I was so happy someone was willing to buy it from me before the ban.

It did have a few pluses, though. It made 9mm recoil feel like a .22 and it was surprisingly accurate when it was working. It was the whole, getting it to cycle and feed properly thing that made you pull your hair out.

I got the impression that the TEC-9 was the firearm the grabbers used as a model for the handgun AW description. It must have been the heat shield that just said "EVIL"!!
